About the Position: Serves as a Budget Analyst for The Judge Advocate General's Legal Center and School (TJAGLCS) and performs a variety of budget analysis functions to analyze the TJAGLCS' budget. Monitors and tracks requirements, obligations, and expenditures throughout the execution phase of the annual operating budget.

Duties

Review contracts and purchase requests submitted by initiators to assure their consistency, accuracy, and adherence to instructions per funding guidance. Participate in formulation of the organization budget estimates and reporting. Prepare and review status of funds daily to ensure commitments and obligations are consistent with funds allocated. Perform in-depth analysis to identify resource impacts, alternatives, reprogramming options and possible alternate sources of funding. Perform a variety of budget analysis functions to analyze the TJAGLCS (The Judge Advocate General’s Legal Center and School) budget.

Requirements

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • One year trial/probationary period may be required.
  • This position requires you to submit a Public Financial Disclosure Report (OGE 278) or a Confidential Financial Disclosure Report (OGE450) upon entry, and annually thereafter.

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes analyzing the use of funds for organization operations; reviewing contracts and purchase requests to ensure adherence to funding guidance; verifying that obligations and expenditures are valid and processed accurately utilizing systems such as General Fund Enterprise Business Systems (GFEBS); and assisting with the preparation for spend plan, budget estimates and reporting. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-11). Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone--no substitution of education for experience is permitted. You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency in the following areas: Budget ExecutionDecision SupportFundamentals & Operations of Budget Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-11).
