The Laborer (MVO) positions are located in Acadia National Park, in the Trails Maintenance Branch and primarily engages in the routine maintenance and construction of trails, trail bridges, etc. The typical seasonal period for these positions is May thru November, but can be variable during these months due to weather conditions, project needs, or funding. Anticipated Entry on Duty: May 2024

Duties

This is an open continuous vacancy announcement. Applicants will be referred periodically throughout the announcement period. The first cut-off date is 11:59 pm (EST), February 29, 2024. Under a higher graded employee position primarily engages in the routine maintenance and construction of hiking trails, trail drainages (water bars, dips, and culverts), iron pins and handrails, stonework, and trail bridges. Marks trails with rock cairns and blazes. Moves materials to job site. Safely and effectively uses and maintains hand and power tools required for the job and has the ability to maintain those tools properly. Operates and performs minor operator maintenance on light duty motor vehicles within the park.
