This position is in the Infectious Diseases Section (IDS) Laboratory, within the Department of Transfusion Medicine (DTM) with the Clinical Center.
The Infectious Diseases Section (IDS) Laboratory addresses the diverse needs at NIH by performing research in Cancer virology and Molecular diagnostic. Specifically studying the link between Viral Hepatitis and cancer, as well as focusing on cutting-edge technologies applied to infectious diseases diagnostic.
Duties
As a GS-0401-13 Supervisory Biologist your duties may include, but are not limited to the following tasks:
Plans work to be accomplished by subordinates, sets and adjusts short-term priorities, and prepares schedules for completion of work.
Assigns work to subordinates based on priorities, selective consideration of the difficulty and requirements of assignments, and the capabilities of employees.
Evaluates work performance of subordinates.
Interviews candidates for positions in the unit; recommends appointment, promotion, or reassignment to such positions.
Identifies developmental and training needs of employees, providing or arranging for needed development and training.
Develops performance standards.

Qualifications
BASIC REQUIREMENT:
In order to qualify for a Supervisory Biologist, GS-0401 position, you must have completed the requirements for a bachelor's (or graduate) degree in a biological science, agriculture, natural resource management, chemistry, or related disciplines appropriate to this position, from an accredited college or university.
OR
Have a combination of experience and education which includes courses comparable to a major in a biological science, agriculture, natural resource management, chemistry, or related disciplines appropriate to this position, AND appropriate experience or additional education which demonstrates similarly appropriate skills or abilities needed to perform the duties of this position.
ADDITIONAL QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENT:
You must demonstrate in your resume at least one (1) year of qualifying experience equivalent to at least the GS-12 level in the Federal service obtained in either the private or public sector, performing the following types of tasks: Performing a wide variety of complex experimental procedures required for evaluating clinical cell and gene therapies such as and not limited to: flow cytometry, Hematology test, and other cellular assays; providing authoritative advice and consultation for more difficult, complex, or unique tests; collaborating with others to develop new assays; preparing reports, policies and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs); leading work to be accomplished by subordinates; and managing the day-to-day operation of a diverse laboratory including coordinating laboratory projects and personnel, and ensuring availability of equipment and supplies.
