National Defense University (NDU) supports the joint warfighter by providing rigorous Joint Professional Military Education to members of the U.S. Armed Forces and select others in order to develop leaders who have the ability to operate and creatively think in an unpredictable and complex world.
This position is being filled under the Direct Hire Authority for Certain Personnel of the Department of Defense via delegated authority by the Office of the Secretary of Defense.
Duties
Review threat and vulnerability assessments to analyze the risk to the Information Systems and networks and determine appropriate measures to manage those risks effectively.
Perform technical assessments to ensure that the system or application proposed for accreditation or connection meets applicable DoD policies, regulations, and standards.
Develops, implements, coordinates, reviews, and evaluates security plans, policies, technical/administrative procedures, accreditation documents, programs, associated with IT equipment, software, design, data, and physical security.
Ensures compliance with all DoD Information Assurance and security standards, such as DISA Security Technical Implementation Guides and DoD regulations as applicable to the iOS, Windows Server OS, Microsoft SQL Server, and NDU Enterprise Services.
Implements and monitors the Risk Management Framework (RMF) processes to support the University accreditation.

- This national security position, which may require access to classified information, requires a favorable suitability review and security clearance as a condition of employment. Failure to maintain security eligibility may result in termination.
- Must obtain/maintain Top Secret clearance.
- In accordance with DoD 8570.1-M Information Assurance Workforce Improvement Program (12/19/2005), the selectee must meet Information Assurance Certification standards for IAT Level II Certification.
- Required to complete an OGE-450 Financial Disclosure Form.
Qualifications
You must meet the minimum qualification requirements as stated in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Operating Manual, Qualification Standards for General Schedule Positions, http://www.opm.gov/qualifications/Standards/group-stds/gs-prof.asp.
Basic Requirement: Applicants must have IT-related experience demonstrating the following competencies appropriate to, or above, the level of this position. Attention to Detail- experience reviewing my own information technology-related work or data and have been asked by others to review their work or data to ensure accuracy, completeness, and consistency with standards.
Customer Service- experience maintaining relationships with customers, assessing current information technology needs of customers, and developing or identifying information technology products and services that are tailored to meet customer needs.
Oral Communication- briefing mid-level management and IT staff on the status of information technology systems, projects, or daily operations, including the communication of technical information to a non-technical audience.
Problem Solving- identifying alternatives to address complex information technology-related issues by gathering and applying information from a variety of sources that provide a number of potential solutions.
In addition to meeting the basic requirement, you must have one year specialized experience equivalent in level of difficulty and responsibility to that of the next lower grade, GS-12, within the federal service, which demonstrates the ability to perform the duties of this position, is required.
Specialized experience: experience with information security/assurance, risk management, architecture design as well as project management AND IT-related experience demonstrating Attention to Detail, Customer Service, Oral Communication, and Problem Solving as described in the vacancy announcement.
