This position will be responsible for conducting investigations to identify and eliminate fraud and other forms of criminal or improper activity directed against the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) programs, including Federal Employees Health Benefits Program (FEHBP), Civil Service and Federal Employees Retirement Systems (CSRS), Federal Employees Retirement System (FERS), Human Resources Solutions( HRS), and Combined Federal Campaign (CFC).
Duties
Assist in interviewing witnesses and subjects for the purpose of obtaining information and verifying facts.
Review and analyze documentary evidence relevant to assigned investigations.
Assist in preparing written reports of the evidence and findings of the investigative assignment.
Assist in the preparation of materials developed in investigations for presentations in court and testifies in court.
Plan and conduct investigations against alleged fraud, waste, and abuse of OPM programs such as the FEHBP, CSRS, FERS, HRS, and CFC.
Interview witnesses and subjects, execute warrants, and perform surveillance.
Establish and maintain liaison contacts with program and administrative officials, and OPM contractors.
Prepare written reports of the results of interview, evidence, findings, and conclusions of investigations.
Participate in developing work plans and establishing office policies and procedures.
Qualifications
Basic Qualifications: The date immediately preceding an individual's 37th birthday is the maximum entry age for original appointment to a position with the Office of Inspector General (OIG) as a law enforcement officer. PLEASE NOTE: a) This requirement does not apply to persons eligible for veterans preference; b) An individual who is 37 years of age or older may be re-employed as a Federal law enforcement officer in the OIG if the individual has had prior coverage under the special Federal law enforcement retirement plan; c) An SF-50, Notification of Personnel Action, must be submitted which shows your current grade and competitive civil service status (if you have been or are a Federal employee). If you are 37 years of age or older and have been previously covered under the special law enforcement retirement plan, please submit an SF-50 which reflects this coverage in addition to your current SF-50.
Applicants must also have one year of specialized experience at the GS-12 level (or equivalent) planning and conducting a wide range of investigative tasks including obtaining and examining documents and evidence, interviewing witnesses, executing search warrants, and performing surveillance; and testifying in criminal and civil proceeding and administrative hearing on investigative results.
Merit promotion applicants must meet time-in-grade requirement as defined in 5 CFR 300, Subpart F.One year at the GS-12 level is required to meet the time-in-grade requirements for the GS-13 level.
