As a Biological Science Laboratory Technician, you will be a valued team member who perform the full range of and assure proficiency in all phases of immunoassay testing following strict chain of custody procedures, established protocols and Laboratory policy. Duties

As a Biological Science Laboratory Technician, you will: 1. Perform the full range of and assure proficiency in all phases of immunoassay testing following strict chain of custody procedures, established protocols and Laboratory policy. 2. Perform tests for drugs on biological specimens, primarily urine, using immunoassay techniques. Review immunoassay test results for accuracy and completeness and determine the need for and perform repeat tests according to Laboratory protocol. 3. Respond to basic inquiries on testing, referring more complex questions requiring interpretation to Toxicologist/Chemists and/or the supervisor. 4. Perform and document all required maintenance and calibrations for the immunoassay instruments, and perform troubleshooting in accordance with Laboratory procedure and manufacturer's technical manuals and training materials. 5. Manage inventory for immunoassay screening and for other parts of the Laboratory; prepare reagents, ensuring that supplies are adequate and that reagents are certified in accordance with standard procedures and protocols. 6. Identify technical or procedural problems in assigned areas in immunoassay testing; analyze technical aspects of problems and recommend solutions.

Qualifications

To qualify for this position, you must meet the specialized experience requirement below. To qualify at the GS-9 level: You must possess one year of specialized experience related to the duties of the position that was comparable in difficulty and responsibility to the GS-8 grade level. Specialized experience is defined as establishing protocols and laboratory policy, performing quality assurance review of all specimens, performs and documents all required maintenance and calibrations for immunoassay instruments; OR Substitution of Education for Experience: Two (2) full years of graduate level education or a Master's degree, if directly related to the position. NOTE: Your resume must clearly show the specialized experience related to this position. Failure to demonstrate how you possess the experience requirements will result in an "Ineligible" rating.
