This position is located at Departmental Offices,Office of the Treasurer. As a Public Affairs Specialist (Consultations Coordinator), you will coordinate and support OTNA activities within Treasury by promoting a coordinated internal and federal agency workstream to ensure that these activities inform each other, provide support for all components of Tribal consultations; provide support for Tribal outreach and engagement activities undertaken by the OTNA office.

Duties
The following are the duties of this position at the GS-12. If you are selected at a lower grade level, you will have the opportunity to learn to perform all these duties, and will receive training to help you grow in this position.
Provides coordination for Treasury's Tribal engagements that extend beyond Tribal consultations, including but not limited to listening sessions; one-on-one meetings with Tribal leaders; and development and operation of information, engagement, and training sessions in coordination with Treasury and IRS offices.
Provides coordination for Treasury's Tribal consultations and departmental consultation training, including but not limited to operation of Tribal consultations, intra-department coordination on the substance of consultation, development of consultation summaries, and communication of consultation actions to Tribal governments pursuant to Treasury's Tribal Consultation Policy.
Maintains Treasury's weekly list serve newsletter to Tribal leaders, providing updates on all Tribal issues within the department and IRS; also maintains Treasury Tribal email inboxes and works with Treasury offices and IRS to communicate Tribal inquiries and provide timely responses.
Qualifications
You must meet the following requirements by the closing date of this announcement:
SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: For the GS-12, you must have one year of specialized experience at a level of difficulty and responsibility equivalent to the GS-11 grade level in the Federal service. Specialized Experience for this position includes:
- Experience supporting Tribal consultations and familiarity with the components of federal consultations, including engagement with Tribal leaders and federal officials.; AND
- Experience in assessing Tribal feedback and identifying extent of understanding achieved to evaluate effectiveness of information programs.; AND
- Experience working with Tribal governments including analysis of Indian law and policy directed at the federal interactions with Tribes.; AND
- Experience working on Tribal economic development.
SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: For the GS-11, you must have one year of specialized experience at a level of difficulty and responsibility equivalent to the GS-09 grade level in the Federal service. Specialized Experience for this position includes:
- Knowledge and experience supporting Tribal consultations and familiarity with the components of federal consultations, including engagement with Tribal leaders and federal officials.; AND
-Knowledge and experience working on Tribal economic development.
OR EDUCATION: You may substitute education for specialized experience as follows:
Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree
OR
3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree
or
LL.M., if related
OR COMBINATION OF EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION: You may qualify by a combination of experience and education. Options for qualifying based on a combination will be identified in the online questions.
