The Criminal Justice Information Services Division (CJIS) is filling three IT Specialist - Enterprise Architecture positions who will specialize in one of these areas: Applications Architecture, Data Architecture, and Shared Services Architecture. The Enterprise Architects will serve as senior IT Specialists to establish strategic roadmaps for CJIS and lead the development of comprehensive systems and metrics, to ensure that services are implemented in accordance with the Division architecture.
Duties
Builds effective partnerships and collaborates with FBI counterparts, other government agencies, and private industry to effectively meet the needs of the FBI.
Utilize knowledge of Division initiatives, regulations, and IT project management skills and techniques to analyze problems, identify alternatives, and provide recommendations.
Briefs executive management on current and future policy guidelines and revises or establishes new standards.
Leads major organizational components in establishing an architectural vision for IT applications and services.
Investigates emerging technologies for applicability to Division services and develops strategies to select and implement appropriately tested technologies.
Major duties specific to the three functional areas are listed below:
Application Architect
Creates and Manages complex and sophisticated software architecture for large scale software systems.
Oversees development efforts, ensuring that development teams adhere to protocol as they implement new IT systems and services.
Data Architect
Creates, evolves, and analyzes data architectures to facilitate operational data processing while also enabling the organization to leverage data as a strategic asset.
Leads complex data architecture projects and/or initiatives to advance organizational capabilities and business initiatives.
Shared Services Architect
Creates and Manages network and/or processing platforms required to support large-scale computer systems and information services.
Analyzes complex systems with many interrelated components to understand limitations and provide recommendations.
Serves as primary liaison and point of contact between the Division and FBI enterprise shared services team to coordinate common tools, network services, and adoption of FBI enterprise services, where applicable.
Qualifications
GS 15: Applicant must possess at least one (1) year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS 15 grade level. SE is defined as follows:
Planned short and long range IT projects by working with teams to formulate common goals and technical strategy as it relates to network infrastructure, data, or application architecture.
Provided advice and guidance to management regarding new technologies and/or regulations and how they pertain to the design, development, procurement, or implementation of infrastructure, data, or application architecture.
Collaborated with internal and external groups to conduct studies, system analysis, or design reviews of proposed new and existing systems.
Executed, coordinated, and monitored testing and implementation plans of various IT systems, and resolved issues that hindered the development, procurement, or operation of technologies.
Reviewed IT architecture to identify value, efficiencies, and purposed recommendations for improvements.
Education
Education cannot be substituted for Specialized Experience at this grade level.
