Duties

Duties include but are not limited too: Receives and analyzes prosthetic consults for items, services and durable medical equipment from primary care providers; Reviews requests for completeness, comparing disability or diagnosis to equipment and/or services normally provided for the condition for which they are requested and/or proper documentation has been provided to justify the issuance; Examines clinical health records and claims folders to determine legal eligibility and prosthetic clinical practice guidelines are followed and advises veteran and provider of the same; Prioritizes pending requests to comply with VA Central Office mandates; Uses Suspense properly. Documents in Computerized Patients Record System (CPRS) professionally and appropriately. Logs serial and lot numbers into National Prosthetic Patient Database (NPPD) in accordance with the Safe Medical Device Act; Uses office automation equipment such as a computer, facsimile machine, ADR equipment, bar code equipment, calculator, copiers and telephones efficiently and effectively. Authorizes and prepares purchase orders for a wide variety of prosthetic and orthotic devices, medical supplies and durable medical equipment. Promotion Potential: The selectee may be promoted to the full performance level without further competition when all regulatory, qualification, and performance requirements are met. Selection at a lower grade level does not guarantee promotion to the full performance level. Work Schedule: Monday - Friday, 8:00AM - 4:30PM Virtual: This is not a virtual position. Qualifications

To qualify for this position, applicants must meet all requirements by the closing date of this announcement, 02/14/2024. Time-In-Grade Requirement: Applicants who are current Federal employees and have held a GS grade any time in the past 52 weeks must also meet time-in-grade requirements by the closing date of this announcement. For a position GS-06 you must have served 52 weeks at the GS-05. For a position GS-07 you must have served 52 weeks at the GS-06.The grade may have been in any occupation, but must have been held in the Federal service. An SF-50 that shows your time-in-grade eligibility must be submitted with your application materials. If the most recent SF-50 has an effective date within the past year, it may not clearly demonstrate you possess one-year time-in-grade, as required by the announcement. In this instance, you must provide an additional SF-50 that clearly demonstrates one-year time-in-grade. Note: Time-In-Grade requirements also apply to former Federal employees applying for reinstatement as well as current employees applying for Veterans Employment Opportunities Act of 1998 (VEOA) appointment. You may qualify based on your experience and/or education as described below: Specialized Experience: GS-06: You must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade GS-05 in the normal line of progression for the occupation in the organization. Examples of specialized experience would include: Functions as an independent employee, with minimal supervision; has experience organizing one's own workday; displays organizational skills and appropriate filing methods; performing a variety of receptionist, timekeeping, record keeping or administrative duties; familiar with purchase cards, computer skills, inventory responsibility, processing of product orders, or work that included procurement duties or that required regulatory compliance and problem solving skills, and that required strong customer service skills. GS-07: You must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade GS-06 in the normal line of progression for the occupation in the organization. Examples of specialized experience would include: authorizes and prepares purchase orders; uses office automation equipment and programs for ordering, inventory, accounting and data tracking; maintains accurate funding, billing and account balances for purchasing; solicits quotes, process credit card purchases; prepares thorough written request for quotations; establishes contracts for items and issues deliver orders against established contracts; ability to use a computer and purchasing related software. There is no education substitution for these grades. Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Note: A full year of work is considered to be 35-40 hours of work per week. Part-time experience will be credited on the basis of time actually spent in appropriate activities. Applicants wishing to receive credit for such experience must indicate clearly the nature of their duties and responsibilities in each position and the number of hours a week spent in such employment. Physical Requirements: Work is primarily sedentary and is carried out in an office setting. There exists prolonged periods of working at a computer terminal. Ability to retrieve equipment from storage room is required. Climbing associated with stocking of equipment and other items in storage areas is necessary. Incumbent may carry/lift items weighing up to fifty (50) pounds.
