About the position: This position will be assigned to the Bowling Center on Patrick Space Force Base, FL.
This position requires shift work to provide coverage on days, evenings, weekends, holidays, or special situations. Scheduled hours will be 20-34 per week.
Duties
Applicants will be reviewed and referred on the following dates: Feb. 9, 2024, Feb. 20, 2024, and closing on Mar 1, 2024. Announcement will close once position is filled.
As a working leader, performs the following duties: Distributes and balances workload among employees. Observes work in progress, production, adherence to quality and safety standards. Instructs and trains new employees. Elevates unresolved employee complaints to supervisor. Provides input on performance, progress and disciplinary problems. Reports all repair and maintenance requirements according to established policy. Reports all violations of safety to immediate supervisor. Responsible for manning the customer service desk within the bowling center. Assigns lanes to be used, operates control console, rents shoes and sells items in the pro shop. Conducts inventories of pro shop items may be required to inventory snack bar resale items, facility equipment and other supply items. Demonstrates and instructs participants on the proper use of equipment and provides guidance and instruction on bowling techniques. Informs supervisor of equipment malfunctions as well as other items needing maintenance or repair. May supervise, lead, oversee and/or coordinate the daily activities of other employees engaged in the performance of their duties. Assists in advertising and recruiting participants for leagues, tournaments, special events and open play activities. May be required to schedule and administer these activities in the capacity of league secretary or tournament director. Ensures activities are properly scheduled, facilities are set up and rules and regulations are observed. Opens and closes the bowling facility as required. In a Food Activity: Performs check-out duties such as ringing up food, beverages (both alcoholic and non-alcoholic) and merchandise by individual items, totaling sales, processing credit card sales, receiving money, and making change. May performs related food service duties such as assisting in maintaining the bar area and replenishing beverage dispensers. Operates limited coffee operation. Prepares a limited variety of hot (non-alcoholic) beverages such as cappuccinos brewed coffees, lattes, espressos, hot chocolate, etc. by selection proper ingredients and following recipes. Serves mixed (non-alcoholic) beverages such as iced coffees, fruit drinks, smoothies, etc. by selecting proper ingredients and following recipes. Serves other cold (non-alcoholic) beverages and food items such as soda, juice, cookies, muffins, pastries, etc. Serves patrons directly, receives payment, operates cash register and returns change to patrons. Performs other related duties as assigned.

Requirements
- This position requires the incumbent to complete a background investigation with favorable results.
- This is a designated drug testing position, incumbent subject to random drug testing.

In order to qualify, you must meet the experience requirements described below. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Qualifying Experience:
Must have experience which provides an in-depth knowledge and understanding of bowling center operations including the rules related to bowling and organization of leagues and tournaments. Must have an in-depth knowledge of bowling machinery and equipment and bowling lane care. Must have experience in the receipt, disbursement, examination, deposit or other processing of cash items when this includes direct handling of cash items, and use of cash accountability control methods. Must have ability to communicate both orally and in writing. Must possess skill in dealing with the public. Prior experience in basic supply techniques is desirable. Must have knowledge of proper sanitation standards in handling and serving food. Must be able to obtain a Food Handler's Certificate and/or complete food handler's training. Must be physically able to occasionally lift and carry objects weighing 50 pounds or more. Must be able continuously stand, bend, stoop and reach for long periods of time. Must be able to satisfactorily complete a pre-employment physical. Must be able to satisfactorily complete a National Agency Check with Inquiries (NACI).
Education
Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. This position does allow for education substitution.
FOREIGN EDUCATION: Education completed in foreign colleges or universities may be used to meet the requirements. You must show proof the education credentials have been deemed to be at least equivalent to that gained in conventional U.S. education program. It is your responsibility to provide such evidence when applying.
