About the position: This position will be assigned to the Fitness Center Facility.
This position requires shift work to provide coverage on days, evenings, weekends, holidays, or special situations. Scheduled hours will be 0-40 per week. Must be able to life and carry objects weighing 50 pounds or more.

Duties
Applicants will be reviewed and referred on the following dates: Jun 13, 2024, Jun 24, 2024, and closing on Jul 2, 2024. Announcement will close once position is filled.
Performs a variety of duties in support of the day to day operation of the lap pool. Assists the Fitness & Sports Manger in executing a comprehensive year-round aquatics program to meet the needs of all authorized patron demographics and mission-essential training for the military duty personnel. As required prepares the aquatics center for special events planning and executing of those programs. Inspects pool equipment and facilities to ensure compliance with AF Occupational Safety and Health (OSH), public health, and fire prevention mandates. When required will escort the necessary Public Health officials in compliance with their duties during inspections. Reports damaged equipment and/or facilities in writing to the FSM and/or Operations Manager. Performs temperature and chemical treatment levels IAW all local directives and reports results IAW AFI48-144. Performs inspections of the mission lap pools operating machinery facilities and equipment to ensure safety, cleanliness and compliance with operational standards and completes the associated checklists IAW activity policy. Ensures patrons are screened IAW guidelines prior to conducting aquatic programs. Performs water rescue and emergency response IAW the lifeguard certification and the Fitness Center Emergency Action Plans. Oversees and conducts the operational swim test for all those customers that need to test their ability before entering the water. Greets patrons/visitors, answers telephone, makes facility reservations and provides accurate information on scheduled events, classes and/or programs. Provides facility orientations to include operating hours, policies, safety procedures and patron emergency response actions. Performs opening/closing procedures IAW activity policy. Performs the duty of the Public Access Defibrillator Program for the Fitness and Sprots Center, to include assessments and reporting results as required. Performs other related duties as assigned.

In order to qualify, you must meet the experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if the position allows for qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application.
Qualifying Experience:
Minimum six months experience in lifeguarding and have a current national recognized Lifeguard certification. Must have knowledge of water rescue and emergency response actions. Experience with aquatics program execution, aquatics equipment, and pool facility operation is desirable. Must have or be able to obtain a basic first aid and CPR/AED/Blood Bourne Pathogens certification within 30 days of employment. Must be able to life objects up to 50 pounds and successfully complete a pre-employment physical exam. Must read, write and speak English fluently and be able to communicate effectively with patrons and co-workers. Must successfully complete a National Agency Check with Inquiries.
Education
Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. This position does not allow for education substitution.
FOREIGN EDUCATION: Education completed in foreign colleges or universities may be used to meet the requirements. You must show proof the education credentials have been deemed to be at least equivalent to that gained in conventional U.S. education program. It is your responsibility to provide such evidence when applying.
