This vacancy is for a IT Specialist (APPSW) position in the Department of Commerce located at the U.S. Census Bureau Headquarters in Suitland, Maryland. The Census Bureau is accessible from the Metro Rail Green Line - Suitland Station.
This Job Opportunity Announcement may be used to fill other IT Specialist (APPSW), 2210, 12, FPL GS-12 positions within the Census Bureau in the same geographical location with the same qualifications and specialized experience.
Duties
Develops and codes applications (conventional, microservice, and containerized).
Plans and designs systems architecture, analyzes and integrates several hardware, software and/or computer related systems and services to provide
and integrated information system and ensures software and systems functionality and quality.
Address software (on-premises or in the Cloud) and hardware issues, conducting tests, modifying codes, and devising solutions for anomalies. Troubleshoots reported errors, participates in strategy development, and sets standards for software testing.
Operates on the Middleware Administration Team in supporting customers across the Census Enterprise.

Specialized Experience: For the GS-12, you must have one year of experience at a level of difficulty and responsibility equivalent to the GS-11 in the Federal service. Experience for this position includes:Analyzing, evaluating, and executing work focused on Middleware (MW) products/components, application systems, integration platforms, and/or infrastructure appliances; Planning and scheduling the installation of new or modified software package versions and applications software in accordance with the Software Development Lifecycle (SSDLC) and Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe); Supported the leading Commercial Off the Shelf (COTS) application middleware server products in the market today such as: Oracle/Oracle Fusion Middleware, and Amazon Web Services (AWS) cloud infrastructure support.
