About the Position: Serve as Deputy Navigation Branch Chief, shares in the overall management of the Branch exercising the full range of personnel management authority.

Duties

Serve as Navigation POC for the Regional Sediment Management (RSM) program, requiring management of coast water resource projects and coordination with Division and National Center of Expertise. Serves in a liaison capacity with responsibility for disseminating environmental information and guidance for long-term dredging and disposal programs. Analyze ways to increase longevity of the sites and utilize dredged material as a beneficial resource. Manages the District's Navigation Land Use Program, providing programmatic oversight for Operations Division.

I have successfully completed at least 60 semester hours or 90 quarter hours of courses in the physical, mathematical, and engineering sciences that included the courses specified in A above. I have successfully completed a curriculum leading to a bachelor's degree in an appropriate scientific field, e.g., engineering technology, physics, chemistry, architecture, computer science, mathematics, hydrology, or geology, and have at least 1 year of professional engineering experience acquired under professional engineering supervision and guidance. SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: I have one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-12 grade level in the Federal service which includes experience with hydrographic survey and mapping requirements and interpreting their results to facilitate a civil works navigation program; working with complex data systems incorporating geographic information systems, and hydrographic surveying equipment, and software. Experience with a civil works navigation program, which includes recommending solutions to resolve a wide variety of complex issues; communicating with stakeholders, state, city, and county officials; and providing technical assistance; experience with a land use request program associated with federal navigation channels, upland dredge material disposal areas, and other waterfront projects. Experience supervising and managing a moderately sized diverse workforce. Basic Requirement: GS-0150 Geography

A. Degree: Bachelor's degree (or higher degree) in geography; or related physical or social science such as geology, meteorology, economics, statistics, sociology, anthropology, political science, history, cartography, computer science, urban studies, or planning that included at least 24 semester hours in geography or related fields.

OR

B. Combination of Education and Experience: Courses equivalent to a major in geography, or a related field that included at least 24 semester hours in geography or related fields, as shown in A above, plus appropriate experience or additional education.

GS 1301 Physical Scientist-
A. I have a bachelor's degree (or higher degree) in physical science, engineering, or mathematics which included 24 semester hours in physical science and/or related engineering science such as mechanics, dynamics, properties of materials, and electronics.

B. I have a combination of education and experience which includes courses equivalent to one of the majors, as shown in A above, that included at least 24 semester hours in physical science and/or related engineering science, plus appropriate experience or additional education.

GS 1370 Cartographer-
A. I have a bachelor's degree (or higher degree) in cartography, or a degree with a major that included or was supplemented by at least 30 semester hours in cartography and/or directly related science, and related mathematics. Such course work includes, but is not limited to, cartography, astronomy, geodesy, photogrammetry, physical and geological oceanography, computer science, land surveying, geophysics, physical geography, and remote sensing. The 30 semester hours must have included at least 6, but no more than 15, semester hours of college level, non-business mathematics or statistics (i.e., college level algebra, trigonometry, calculus, or scientific mathematics or statistics requiring equivalent college-level courses as prerequisites).

OR

B. I have a combination of education and experience which includes courses equivalent to a major in cartography, or a major that included or was supplemented by at least 30 semester hours in cartography, and/or directly related science, and related mathematics, as shown in A above, plus appropriate experience or additional education.
