This position functions as an Education Coordinator in the Transitioning Servicemember/Veteran and Suicide Prevention Center (TASC) located at the J.J. Peters VA Medical Center in Bronx, NY.
Duties

Duties include, but are not limited to, the following:
Develops an educational curriculum that will be provided to national community partners, VA employees, and TSM/Vs specific to the VA's public health approach to suicide prevention;
Conducts program evaluation of education curriculum by administering surveys to community partners;
Oversees TASC Education Team's online presence and web content;
Establishes and manages communications plans that identify target audiences, appropriate messages, activities, and resources needed for effective communication and marketing;
Formulates a marketing strategy for educational products and organizational data;
Assists TASC Assistant Director of Education in creating procedures, documentation, and tailoring protocols for education initiatives and program implementation;
Helps track the progress of the education agenda regarding the contacts/consultations, program utilization, and the extent the program is reaching;
Performs other duties as assigned
Work Schedule: Monday-Friday; 8:00am-4:30pm

Qualifications
Basic Requirement: Bachelor's or graduate/higher level degree with major study in an academic field related to the medical field, health sciences, or allied sciences appropriate to the work of the position. This degree must be from an educational program from an accrediting body recognized by the U.S. Department of Education at the time the degree was obtained. NOTE: Transcripts are required at the time of application.

In addition to the basic requirement above, applicants must have specialized experience and/or directly related education as stated below:
Specialized Experience: You must have at least one (1) full year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade level (GS-9) in Federal Service that has given you the knowledge, skills, and abilities required to successfully perform the duties of a Health Science Specialist. Specialized experience includes grants administration and research; accessing and discussing curriculum standards and research trends; developing an educational curriculum that will be provided to national community partners; and designing innovative means to advertise and market products for education initiatives. NOTE: Your experience must be fully documented in your resume and must include job title, duties, month and year start/end dates AND hours worked per week. -OR-
Education: You may substitute specialized experience with education if you have a Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree or three (3) full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to a Ph.D. This education must demonstrate the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work. Examples: hospital administration, public health administration, or related fields such as business or public administration with course work in health care administration. NOTE: You must submit a copy of your transcript with your application. Education cannot be credited without documentation. -OR-
Combination: Equivalent combinations of successfully completed graduate-level education and professional experience, as described above, may also be used to meet the total experience requirements for this position and grade level. The education portion must include graduate courses directly related to the work of this position. IMPORTANT: A full year of work is considered to be 35-40 hours of work per week. All experience listed on your resume must include the month and year start/end dates. Physical Requirements: The work requires periods of prolonged standing or of sedentary work, such as data entry, educational program development, and analysis. Reaching for supplies, lifting moderate items, as well as bending and filing are also necessary. A portion of the work is performed in and around an educational setting.
