This position is located at Departmental Offices, Terrorism and Financial Intelligence-Intelligence Analysis. As an Intelligence Research Specialist (Junior Intelligence Analyst), you will be junior member of a team that conducts research and analysis under the guidance of more senior analysts.
Duties
Pursuant to 50 USC 3024 (v), and with concurrence and consultation with the Director of National Intelligence and the Director of the Office of Personnel Management, this position is being established in the excepted service as an element of the Intelligence Community within the Department of the Treasury.
The following are the duties of this position at the GS-09. If you are selected at a lower grade level, you will have the opportunity to learn to perform all these duties, and will receive training to help you grow in this position.As an Intelligence Research Specialist (Junior Intelligence Analyst), you will:
Identify new and pertinent material for the files and recognize the need to call to the attention of their superiors important new information which may suggest the necessity for further examination or study.
Develop products that contribute to larger studies; considering actual and potential problems.
Reconcile occasionally conflicting data sources.
Collaborate with Intelligence Community counterparts on issues and products where high level intervention is not anticipated.
Provide verbal, written, and graphical presentation of results to Treasury, Intelligence Community, U.S. Government interagency, and foreign government audiences.
Qualifications
You must meet the following requirements by the closing date of this announcement.
To qualify for the grade 05 level, you must meet the following requirements:
Experience: For the GS-05, you must have three years of general experience, one year of which was equivalent to at least the GS-4 level in the Federal service. General experience includes:
- Analyzing problems to identify significant factors, gather pertinent data, and recognize solutions; AND
- Planning and organizing work; AND
- Communicating effectively orally and in writing.
OR
You may substitute education for general experience as follows: 4-year course of study leading to a bachelor's degree.
OR
You may qualify on a combination of education and experience. To combine education and experience, the total percentage of experience at the required grade level compared to the requirement, as well as the percentage of completed education compared to the requirement must equal at least 100 percent.
(*Note: If you are qualifying using education and you are within 9 months of graduating you may tentatively qualify. However, you must graduate and/or meet all qualification requirements prior to being appointed to the position.)
Education
The education generally must be from an accredited (or pre-accredited) college or university recognized by the U.S. Department of Education. If you are qualifying based on foreign education, you must submit proof of creditability of education as evaluated by a credentialing agency. Refer to the
