About the Position: The mission of the CCAD is to overhaul, repair, modify, retrofit, test and modernize helicopters, engines and components for all services and foreign military customers. We provide worldwide on-site maintenance services, aircraft crash analysis, lubricating oil analysis, chemical, metallurgical and training support.

Duties

Perform final assembly of the entire end item, assembles subassemblies and components.. Incorporate authorized modifications, complete adjustments, and alignments to assure compliance with prescribed specifications for balance, fits, torque, pressure and/or stretch. Perform examination and evaluation of rotor head and rotor head components. Troubleshoot and repair malfunctioning items on the assembly line or flight line. Perform minor rework on parts or replace parts required to restore item to serviceability.

Requirements

  • Appointment may be subject to a Tier 1- Non-Sensitive, Low Risk, suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • Incumbent must pass a pre-appointment physical examination and meet established requirements.
  • Incumbent is required to sign a DA Form 5019-R, Condition of Employment for certain civilian positions identified as critical under the Drug Abuse Testing Program.

The ability to perform common Aircraft Mechanical Parts Repairer tasks such as performing disassembly on components, assemblies, and accessories to include parts. Bonding repairs on a variety of aircraft mechanical components. Using measuring instruments such as micrometers, calipers, dial indicator, gauges, and/or torque wrenches; and inspecting, reworking, repairing, and balancing aircraft mechanical components. Working under close supervision of a work leader or journey-level employee who observes tasks in progress and upon completion to make sure they are properly performed.- Failure to meet this Screen Out Element will result in an ineligible rating. Ability To Do The Work Of The Position Without More Than Normal SupervisionAbility to Interpret Instructions, Specification, etc. (includes blueprint reading)Ability To Use and Maintain Tools and EquipmentKnowledge of Equipment Assembly, Installation, Repair, etc.Technical Practices (theoretical, precise, artistic)Trouble ShootingUse of Measuring Instruments Physical Effort: Requires standing, bending, walking, stooping, or sitting for long periods of time. Requires frequent lifting of up to 35 pounds without assistance, and over 35 pounds with assistance from another worker or weight handling equipment. Hoists and/or equipment and other employees are available for handling heavier or awkward items. Working Conditions: Normally works inside on concrete floors in well-lighted, ventilated air-conditioned shop area. May work outside on flight line or in hangar areas when on trouble calls. Exposed to varying degrees of temperature and noise around shop or test cell equipment. Exposed to dirt, dust, grease, oils and cleaning solvents and subject to cuts, abrasions, strains, and other injury from handling tools and parts and using equipment. Required to wear and use appropriate safety equipment. Working conditions are considered in the evaluation of the job.
