About the Position:
This position is located within a Dental Clinic, Fort Campbell, KY. The incumbent will serve as an x-ray technician within the dental clinic. Assignments include operation of dental radiographic equipment (to include panoramic, cephalometric and cone beam CT), patient instruction and positioning, basic equipment cleaning and maintenance, acquisition and storage of supplies, and records management. Some dental assisting may be required.

Duties
Perform a comprehensive scope of diagnostic radiologic procedures employing equipment which emits ionizing radiation.
Take intra and extra-oral radiographs, as well as panoramic and cephalometric x-rays, conforming to established techniques for qualitative diagnosis.
Receive and explain x-ray procedures to patients.
Assist dentist providing treatments to patients.
Operate and adjust dental and radiographic equipment.
Maintain records of patients examined, views taken, and technical factors used.
Provide training, mentoring, and orientation to less experienced staff on x-ray techniques; procedures and principles
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- This position may be a Testing Designated Position (TDP) subject to applicant testing and random drug testing. Applicants with verified positive test results shall be refused employment.
- Position may require to lift up to 50 pounds.
- Immunizations may be required.
- Physical may be required.
- Incumbent will be required to receive seasonal influenza immunization.
- Position may require to be certified as a radiographer and have successfully completed an educational program that meets or exceeds the standards described in 42 CFR Part 75.
- TDY travel may be required up to 5% of the time.

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes operating dental radiographic equipment (including panoramic, cephalometric and cone beam CT), cleaning and maintaining basic equipment, instructing patients, and recording data from patients and radiographic equipment as well as limited dental assistant support. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-04)

Education: Four year course of study leading to a bachelor's degree.

Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide your semester hours of education beyond two years (total semester hours minus 60) by 60. Add the two percentages
