This is a Direct Hire Authority (DHA) solicitation utilizing the DHA for Certain Personnel of the DoD Workforce to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to positions in the competitive service. About the Position: This position is located at US Army Medical Activity Blanchfield Army Community Hospital, Fort Campbell, Kentucky.

Duties

Responds on-site to accidents and other emergencies involving injury and illnesses. Conducts a complete examination of the patient to determine the nature, extent, and seriousness of his condition. Makes an independent preliminary assessment of the patient's condition and selects from a variety of prescribed protocols the one which he considers appropriate under the given circumstances. Prioritizes treatments for patient having multiple problems and employs a variety of established emergency medicine techniques, methods and equipment to the appropriate medical facility. Performs thorough safety and maintenance inspections and minor repairs on emergency and patient transport vehicles and a variety of medical equipment.

Requirements

• You will be required to provide proof of U.S. Citizenship.
• Male applicants born after December 31, 1959, must complete a Pre-Employment Certification Statement for Selective Service Registration.
• One year trial/probationary period may be required.
• Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
• This position has specific initial background investigation and periodic re-verification requirements since its duties require interaction with children and youth under the age of eighteen (18) years of age on a recurring basis.
• This position is subject to annual seasonal influenza vaccinations. Applicants tentatively selected for this position will be required to sign a statement consenting to seasonal influenza vaccinations or must provide a recognized exemption.
• Immunization screening is required. Hepatitis B immunization is required for all positions with direct patient contact. Applicants may be required to show proof of other immunizations depending on the type of position.
• All Health Care Providers must be able to obtain and maintain current Basic Life Support (BLS) training and certification that is sponsored or endorsed by the American Heart Association (AHA).
• You must possess and maintain a current Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification from, or in accordance with the American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross.
• A pre-placement medical examination is required.
• This position is a Testing Designated Position (TDP) subject to a pre-employment drug screening, and random testing thereafter, to include testing based on reasonable suspicion and testing due to direct involvement with an on-duty accident.
• Applicants must be able to fulfill credentialing requirements and obtain and maintain appropriate/relevant clinical privileges.
• This position requires a current certification with the National Registry of Emergency Medical Technicians (NREMT) as "EMT".
• This position requires the completion of the National Incident Management System (NIMS) Courses: IS100, IS200, IS700 and IS800 for Emergency Medical Services within 6 months of entrance on duty.
• This position requires the completion of the Emergency Vehicle Operations (EVOC) course within 6 months of entrance on duty, and annually thereafter.
• You must possess and maintain a valid state Driver's License issued by a State or territory of the United States.
• This position requires rotating shift work to provide coverage on evenings, weekends, holidays, or special situations.
• This position is an Inclement Weather Essential position.

Who May Apply: US Citizens In order to qualify, you must meet the Education and/or Experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. Specialized Experience is defined as: One (1) year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-05 grade level in the Federal service which includes: 1) Providing emergency medical assistance to patients, 2) Taking and recording vital signs, AND 3) Performing medical assessments to determine patient's emergency care requirements. OR Education: A half year (i.e., 9 semester hours) of graduate level education in a field directly related to the work of the position, such as Health Sciences, Health Education, or Paramedic or Emergency Medical Care. (Note: You MUST attach a copy of your transcripts.) OR Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) by 9.
