This position is located in the office of the Architect of the Capitol (AOC).  The selectee serves as a full assistant to the Chief of Staff (COS) in the management of complex projects, studies, and action items, keeping the COS informed of critical developments and providing expert advice on various problems or situations that may arise.

Duties

The individual selected for this position will collaborate with and assist the Chief of Staff with oversight and direction of the day-to day and strategic operations of the Office of the Architect by overseeing the execution of all administrative functions, including general administrative activities, correspondence review and management, human resources activities, policy formulation and implementation, business process improvements, and special projects.

Qualifications

You must meet the United States Office of Personnel Management's (OPM) qualification requirements (including specialized experience and/or educational requirements) for the advertised position.  You must meet all eligibility and qualifications requirements by the closing date of the job announcement.  Additional information on the qualification requirements is outlined in the OPM Qualifications Standards Handbook of General Schedule Positions.  It is available for your review on the OPM web site at OPM qualification standards Specialized experience is experience that has equipped you with the particular knowledge, skills and abilities to perform successfully the duties of the position, and that is typically in or related to the position to be filled. To be creditable, specialized experience must have been equivalent to at least the next lower grade level. Candidates for the GS-15 grade level must have at least 52 weeks of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower (GS-14) grade level in the Federal service. Specialized experience for this position must demonstrate the following: Advising senior staff and stakeholders on strategic operations, program management and administrative issues that support the critical mission of an organization. Implementing innovative solutions to complex issues in a variety of management programs (e.g. facilities management, budget management, human capital management, support services and other administrative functions) for a Federal agency or large organization. Developing and implementing process improvements and cross-functional initiatives in support of organizational programs, operations and strategic goals.
