This position is located at the IHS OKC Area Office and reports directly to the Area CIO. The purpose of the position is to perform a wide variety of activities related to HHS, IHS, and Oklahoma City Area (OCA) information technology (IT) security, network and telecommunications infrastructure to ensure operational continuity of all services. The incumbent will serve as the Information Systems Security Officer (ISSO) for the OCA.
Duties
Provides oversight, advice, guidance, education and awareness to personnel throughout the area in implementing IT security policies and procedures regarding the development and operation of network, telecommunication and health information technology systems.
Plans and coordinates a wide range of activities designed to insure, protect, and restore major IT systems, services and capabilities.
Develop contingency plans or disaster recovery for all facilities and update annually or as required and to respond to new security requirements or changes in the IT architecture.
Develops, implements, and coordinates activities designed to ensure, protect, and restore IT systems, services, and capabilities.
Monitors and evaluates systems' compliance with IT security requirements.
Qualifications

BASIC REQUIREMENT:
Individuals must have IT-related experience demonstrating each of the four competencies listed below. Such experience is typically gained in the IT field or through the performance of work where the primary concern is IT.

In addition to the Basic Requirements, you must also meet the Minimum Qualifications stated below.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
GS-12-Your resume must demonstrate at least one (1) year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade level in the Federal service obtained in either the private or public sector performing the following type of work and/or tasks: evaluate systems compliance with IT security requirements; provide guidance and technical support to managers, program staff, and development staff on IT security and security infrastructure; Conduct system security evaluations, audits, and reviews for compliance with IT guidelines; Provide oversight and guidance in implementing IT security policies; Provide oversight, authorization and annual review for access requests for a wide-range of systems.
Time In Grade
Federal employees in the competitive service are also subject to the Time-In-Grade Requirements: Merit Promotion (status) candidates must have completed one year of service at the next lower grade level. Time-In-Grade provisions do not apply under the Excepted Service Examining Plan (ESEP).
