About the Position: This is an Information Technology Specialist (Application Software) position located within the Human Resources Command, Enterprise Modernization Directorate (EMoD), Fort Knox, KY.

Duties

Utilizes technical expertise to maintain Information Assurance compliance by testing, evaluating, and resolving impacts associated with development utilizing GOTS/COTS solutions. Develops automated and manual systems to accomplish design and programming assignment. Conduct analysis to adapt, automate, and develop GOTS/COTS solutions to meet customer needs. Analyzes data and prepares a project synopsis which compares alternatives in terms of cost, time, necessary equipment and staff. Leverage knowledge of emerging technology to improve systems and software integration.

Requirements

  • Appointment to this position is subject to a one year probationary period unless the appointee has previously met the requirements as described in 5 CFR Part 315.
  • This position is required to satisfactorily complete the appropriate training and obtain the required certification/recertification for this position as outlined in DoD Publication 8570.01-M, Information Assurance Workforce Improvement Program.
  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • This position requires the incumbent be able to obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance.
  • This position requires the incumbent to occasionally travel away from the normal duty station (25%) of the time. Travel may be required to attend training, conferences, and other mission requirements.

Specialized experience: To Qualify applicants must possess one year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade/level (GS-11). Specialized experience is defined as: Experience and proficiency in writing complex SQL queries for data manipulation/extraction and ability to analyze data sets, understand trends and draw analytical insights. Possess demonstrated experience designing and creating data models that structure and organize data for efficient reporting and analysis. Possess demonstrated experience developing and maintaining interactive reports, dashboards, and data visualizations using BI tools like Oracle Analytics Server, Power BI, or others. Possess experience collaborating with business analysts, data scientists, and business users to understand their reporting and analysis requirements. The OPM Qualification Standard provides the following definition: specialized experience is experience that has equipped the applicant with the particular competencies/knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the duties of the position and is typically in or related to the work of the position to be filled. Such experience is typically gained in the IT field or through the performance of work where the primary concern is IT.
