Duties

Performs a full range of simple cooking of items that require little to no processing and prepping foods by peeling, chopping, cutting, grinding, pureeing, dredging and etc. Operates and cleans a variety of different standard kitchen equipment that use multiple types of heat sources such as gas, electricity, steam and/or microwave. Maintains a clean work space and follows established sanitation procedures when handling food. Ensures foods are properly cooked and stored at the correct temperatures to prevent the growth of bacteria. Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Direct Deposit and Social Security Card is required.
  • Meet qualification/eligibility/background requirements for this position.
  • A one year probationary period may be required.
  • Satisfactorily complete an employment verification (E-Verify) check.
  • Successfully complete a pre-employment physical.
  • Satisfactory completion of a minimum of 4 hours initial food sanitation/safety training within 30 days of employment; minimum of 4 hours refresher training required annually.
  • Subject to satisfactory completion of all pre-employment checks in accordance with AR 215-3, para. 2 to include a medical examination.
  • Incumbent may be required to complete a Tier 1 background investigation for a Common Access Card for physical access to Federally controlled facilities.
  • Must meet age requirement of 18 years or older at time of appointment.

Qualifications

1. Work experience in preparing foods and cooking simple foods and short orders in a cafeteria, restaurant, or mess. 2. Demonstration of the following work behavior is desirable: Neatness and good grooming Dependability Ability to work under pressure NOTE: Experience must be reflected on the resume submitted at the time of application.
