Duties

Prepares and cooks a variety of foods and desserts according to menu requirements, with or without the assistance of another cook/supervisor; Takes food from prep area to refrigerators or serving area; Monitor inventory and rotating food inventories. Follows recipes to prepare food items and adjusts recipes for larger or smaller quantities and portions out food for family style and plate service; Prepares vegetables and cold food dishes; Make a variety of salads, salad dressings, sandwiches. Roasts a variety of meats such as beef, pork, veal, lamb, fish, and poultry; Grills and deep fries foods; Broils and steams foods; Slices meat by hand and by mechanical means, to specific requirements. Monitors and maintains appropriate temperature of all food items throughout preparation and service; Keeps working area and cooking utensils cleaned and ready for use in accordance with standard sanitation requirements; Maintains personal hygiene. Operates kitchen equipment designed to mix and cook food items. Uses, cleans and maintains power kitchen equipment.

Requirements

• Direct Deposit and Social Security Card is required.
• Meet qualification/eligibility/background requirements for this position.
• Satisfactorily complete an employment verification (E-Verify) check.
• Completion of a minimum of 4 hours initial food sanitation/safety training within 30 days of employment; minimum of 4 hours refresher training required annually.
• Successfully complete a pre-employment physical.
• Must meet age requirement of 18 years or older at time of appointment.
• Incumbent may be required to complete a Tier 1 background investigation for a Common Access Card for physical access to federally-controlled facilities.

Qualifications

1. Minimum of 6 months of work experience directly related to the duties of a NA-7404-06 Cook as described above. 2. Skill in working with professional kitchen appliances and equipment. 2. Be able to communicate both written and verbal in English. NOTE: Experience must be reflected on the resume submitted at the time of application.
