About the Position: This position is located at the Human Resources Division, Military Personnel Operations within Tripler Army Medical Center, Honolulu, Hawaii. Serve as a Human Resources Assistant (Military/ Office Automation) in support of Medical Readiness Command, Pacific (MRC-P), Tripler Army Medical Center (TAMC), Desmond Doss Health Clinic (DDHC), Soldier Recovery Unit (SRU), Public Health Command- Pacific (PHC-P), Dental Health Command- Pacific (DHC-P) and respective activities.

Duties

Provide administrative and technical military personnel support, with responsibility for a variety of military personnel duties. Communicate in writing, telephonically, electronically, and in person with military officers, military enlisted personnel, and civilians to determine the specific types of military actions required. Receive, review, coordinate, prepare, finalize, and track a wide range of military personnel actions. Perform all aspects of retirement/separation counseling and processing.

Requirements

  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret Security clearance.
  • Employees assigned to a medical treatment facility are required to be screened for applicable immunizations or pre-existing immunity based on occupational risk, regardless of job series.
  • This position has a mandatory seasonal influenza vaccination requirement and is subject to annual vaccination.

This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-04). OR Education: Four years of education above the high school level obtained in an accredited business, secretarial or technical school, junior college, college or university. OR Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide your semester hours of education beyond two years (total semester hours minus 60) by 60. Add the two percentages. Specialized Experience GS-06: One year of specialized experience which includes applying military personnel regulations, policy and practices regarding military personnel programs; utilizing specialized automated systems supporting military personnel programs to retrieve data, review documents, and produce a variety of documents and other materials. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-05). Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-05). Specialized Experience GS-07: One year of specialized experience which includes applying military regulations, principles, practices to coordinate military personnel transactions such as Promotions, Reassignments, the military evaluation process and military awards; maintaining military service records; and performing in and out processing for military personnel. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-06). Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-06).Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone--no substitution of education for experience is permitted. Proficiency Required: This position requires a qualified typist. A qualified typist can type 40 words per minute based on a 5 minute sample with three or fewer errors.
