About the Position: Position serves as the Casualty Support Travel Specialist as the primary point of contact for all Family and uniformed temporary duty casualty travel. Position is in Human Resources Command (HRC), The Adjutant General Directorate (TAGD), at Fort Knox, Kentucky. This is a TEMPORARY position Not to Exceed 12 months and may be extended in one-year increments to a maximum of three years and cannot be made permanent. This position is obligated.

Duties

Implement the Defense Travel System (DTS) program for Family and uniformed casualty travel. Provide and coordinates time sensitive travel orders, lodging, and transportation for all authorized persons in a timely manner. Train new travelers and approving officials on DTS policies and procedures. Serve as a subject matter expert on casualty travel processes and standard operating procedures using DTS and non-DTS travel processes for unique travel. Serve as a Reviewing Official (RO), Approving Official (AO), or T-Signer as required, and performs the associated functions.

Requirements

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • Must obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance and access.
  • Position will be required to work a shift schedule to assist staffing of the 24 hour-a-day, 7 day-a-week Casualty Operations Center.
  • May be contacted by phone during off duty hours to answer critical casualty travel questions that cannot wait until regular business hours.
  • Completion of corresponding Civilian Education System level requirements within 1 year of appointment.

Who May Apply: US Citizens In order to qualify, you must meet the education and/or experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. Additional information about transcripts is in this document. To qualify based on your experience, the resume must describe at least one year of specialized experience which includes and prepared you to do the work in this job. Specialized experience is defined as: Experience providing instruction for usage of the Travel System. Experience assisting with training and guidelines of Travel System. Experience coordinating traveler profiles, organizational data, and document flow procedures in Travel System. Experience resolving technical, administrative and/or operation problems. For this position at the GS-11 grade Level you must possess: A Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree or 3 full years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to such a degree or LL.M., if related.
