This position is part of the Interior Business Center (IBC), Human Resources Directorate (HRD), IBC HRD Security and Drug and Alcohol Testing Div. The incumbent will be responsible for leading a staff of Drug Program Specialists.

Duties

- Process incoming customer requests for drug testing until results is released back to the customer. - Resolve simple, informal complaints of employees and refer others, such as formal grievances and appeals, to the supervisor or an appropriate management official. - Communicate team consensus and recommendations to the supervisor on actions affecting team and individual awards, rewards and recognition. - Intercede with the supervisor on behalf of the team to inform the supervisor of performance management issues/problems and to recommend/request related actions, such as: assignments, reassignments, promotions, tour of duty changes, peer reviews and performance appraisals.

Qualifications

At the GS-12 level, you must meet the following qualification: One year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-11 level. Specialized experience is that which has equipped the applicant with the competencies to successfully perform the duties of the position, and that is typically in or related to the position to be filled. Examples of specialized experience for this position include: Coaching and mentoring team members on work methods, practices, and procedures: performing specimen collections where chain of custody is an integral part of the collection process; experience identifying customer-related problems and making recommendations to solve problems or coordinating with other parties to find a remedy; answering customer inquiries through phone, fax, and email to bring quick resolution to issue; applying laws, regulations, policies or procedures when solving customer requests; and intermediate level experience with Microsoft Office Suite of applications; especially Excel (or Google Sheets) . Only experience and education obtained by the closing date of this announcement will be considered. TIME-IN-GRADE: Current career or career-conditional employees of the Federal government, or former career or career-conditional employees, who have a break in service of less than one year, are required to meet the time-in-grade restriction of one year of Federal experience at the next lower grade, with few exceptions outlined in 5 CFR 300.603(b). Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
