About the Position: You will serve as a Digital Forensic Analyst (DFA) responsible for applying the full range of analytical knowledge, skills, and abilities in the forensic identification, examination, analysis, and reporting of data associated with U.S. Army Criminal Investigation Command (USACIDC) criminal and civil investigations.

Duties

Conduct a wide variety of specialized visual and computer-based examinations of computers, related peripheral equipment and other automation and data storage devices. Prepare formal written reports of findings and expert testimony to be presented in courts-martial and various other judicial and administrative proceedings. Receive, inventory, and sign for physical evidence (possibly weighing in excess of 40 pounds) and maintain integrity of submitted evidence. Assist as part of a criminal investigative team with the execution of highly complex digital forensics requiring the use of specialized technical equipment for the purpose of discovering and analyzing available, deleted, or "hidden" information. Stay up to date in the field of digital forensics by studying computer literature, attending trade shows and seminars, reviewing new products, etc., in order to keep abreast of the latest information and technology available.

Requirements

• Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
• Required to obtain and maintain the DoD Digital Forensics Examiner (DFE) (or successor certifications/equivalents as might be required under USACIDC regulations) certification within 12 months of employment.
• Digital forensic certifications, other than the DoD DFE that are acceptable are the International Association of Computer Investigative Specialist (IACIS) Certified Forensic Computer Examiner (CFCE) certification, ...
• the Global Information Assurance Certification Forensic Examiner (GCFE), or other industry recognized digital certification as determined by the USACIDC Computer Crime Program Manager.
• Required to be screened under the civilian drug abuse testing program. Periodic urinalysis will be required to test for drug abuse. Must sign DA Form 5019-R.
• Mobility Agreement: Must agree in writing to comply with management-directed permanent change of station (PCS) movement to meet mission requirements.
• Subjected to the viewing of disturbing images and may be required to submit to a psychological evaluation.
• Mandatory training is required which must be successfully completed and other training may occur as necessary for success in the position.
