Serves as a Technical Advisor for International & Regulatory Affairs to the Federal Air Surgeon of the Office of Aerospace Medicine (AAM). Serves as the senior focal point for international, rulemaking, external audit, and safety recommendation matters at the AAM level. Advises AAM executive leadership and management on methods for ensuring organization compliance based on program expertise and analysis.

Duties

Recognized expert within FAA and provides leadership for international and regulatory matters under the minimal direction of a manager or executive. Represents the interests of the Office of Aerospace Medicine (AAM) in the development and implementation of policy, recommendations, strategic goals, and responses to internal and external customers. Provides expert technical and analytical support and advice on highly complex and challenging international and regulatory matters to the AAM personnel and ensures the position on matters have been fully coordinated within AAM as needed prior to presentation to the Federal Air Surgeon and Deputy Federal Air Surgeon.

  • A one-year probationary period may be required.

Qualifications

To qualify for this position at the FV-K (FG/GS-15) level, you must demonstrate in your application that you possess at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the FV-J (FG/GS-14) level. Specialized experience is experience that has equipped you with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform successfully the duties of the position to be filled, and that is typically in or related to the work of the position to be filled.SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE includes:Experience providing technical advice and guidance to executive-level officials to inform and influence them on key international and regulatory matters;Experience researching and evaluating emerging issues to assess their impact on strategic and/or business level goals; andExperience leading teams and influencing others on matters related to international and regulatory affairs.Applicants should include examples of specialized experience in their work history. Qualifications must be met by the closing date of the announcement.
