Serves as a public affairs and multi-media specialist for DeCA with responsibility for assessing the need for, designing, developing, planning and executing comprehensive media campaigns encompassing digital and print and exhibit media, to convey information on DeCA's programs, policies, and activities.
Duties
This is a developmental position. Work assignments are progressively complex and intended to broaden your skills and provide you with practical experience to prepare you to perform at the target grade level.
Serves as a Public Affairs and Multi-Media Specialist for DeCA with responsibility for assessing the need for, designing, developing, planning and executing comprehensive media campaigns encompassing digital and print and exhibit media, to convey information on DeCA's programs, policies, and activities.
Determine the need for, scope of, formulating and implementing integrated communication programs and procedures that directly support the enterprise.
Evaluates information problems encountered in communicating DeCA's programs.
Maintains liaison with contractors, photographers, and public affairs specialists.
This position offers promotion potential to a higher grade. To prepare you for the higher grade, work assignments will be progressively more complex. After meeting all qualifications and requirements for the next grade level and with your supervisor's recommendation, you may be promoted without further competition. However, promotion is neither guaranteed nor automatic.

Qualifications
You must meet the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) qualifications for series 1035 and additional requirements by the announcement closing date. Your resume must clearly show that you have one (1) year of experience equivalent to at least GS-11. Experience can be under other Federal service pay systems, private sector, or military.
Examples of qualifying specialized experience:
Designing, developing, planning and executing comprehensive media campaigns encompassing digital and print and exhibit media, to convey information on DeCA's programs, policies, and activities.
Formulating and implementing integrated communication programs and procedures that directly support the enterprise by keeping internal and external audiences informed.
Develops plans for print and visual campaigns to disseminate information about DeCA's programs using a variety of methods and techniques such as news releases, radio and television scripts, feature articles, personal appearances, news conferences, exhibits, brochures, pamphlets, digital and web media, etc.
You will receive credit for all relevant qualifying experience (paid and unpaid), including volunteer work done through National Service program (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social).

Time-in-grade applies to the promotion of current and former federal employees who hold or have held a permanent GS position in either the competitive or excepted service in the previous 52 weeks, including current employees applying under VEOA.
