This position is located in the U.S. International Trade Commission, Office of Investigations. There is the possibility of extension through the school year, and/or for an additional year based on workload requirements and budget availability.

Duties

As an International Trade Analyst (Investigator) Trainee, you will perform a variety of duties designed to encourage professional growth and development, through a variety of experiences, including the collection, compilation, analysis, and presentation of data related to international trade in products under investigation, and the U.S. industries affected by that trade. You will perform short and medium term projects related to tasks assigned to higher-graded international trade analysts. Specifically, under the guidance of a supervisory investigator or an investigator, the incumbent will assist in collecting and/or assessment of information relevant to import injury proceedings, the resolution of which will, in most instances, have a significant impact on international trade in the subject merchandise, as well as the domestic industry producing those products. You will conduct qualitative and quantitative research and analysis utilizing a variety of sources and tools, including MS Excel. You will also assist in the analysis and presentation of data in such a way as to be of maximum use to the Commission. You will also participate in preparing preliminary interpretive reports and using computer applications in investigative research in support of import injury investigations. You may also conduct targeted research on international trade issues and topics, including summarizing findings through written products and perform other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

To be eligible for basic consideration, all Pathways Interns must: Be enrolled, or accepted for enrollment, on at least a half-time basis, at a qualifying educational institution Be seeking a diploma, degree, or certificate· Be in good academic standing and have a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.50 You must meet all the requirements below by the closing date of the announcement and they must be clearly identified in your application, resume, or supporting documents. This includes any general and specialized experience, education, and/or selective placement factors mentioned. These are used to determine if you possess the knowledge, skills, and/or abilities to successfully perform in this position. Applicants applying for the GS-07 grade level must have completed 1 full academic year of graduate level education; or Eligibility under the Superior Academic Achievement* Provision and completion of a bachelor's degree, AND must be currently enrolled or accepted to a qualifying degree or certificate program. *Superior Academic Achievement for GS-07 eligibility option: (Bachelor's degree) - In the upper one-third of graduating class; OR a GPA of 3.0 or higher out of 4.0, as recorded on official transcript, or based on courses completed during final 2 years of curriculum; OR a GPA of 3.5 or higher out of 4.0, based on average of required courses completed in major or required courses in major completed during the final 2 years of curriculum. To qualify at the GS-7 level, you must meet one of the following requirements: 1 full academic year of graduate level education; or a Bachelor's degree with superior academic achievement, in the upper one-third of your graduating class; or have a GPA of 3.0 or higher out of 4.0 as recorded on your official transcript, or based on courses completed during your final 2 years; OR one full year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-05 grade level or comparable pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private sector. Work experience must show attention to detail, customer service, oral communication, problem solving skills and abilities, gathering data required for reporting purposes, prepares spreadsheets, memoranda, and reports; gather information, and performing and administrative management functions relating to office operations.
