This position is located with the Bureau of Indian Affairs, Eastern Region, Office of the Regional Director, Deputy Director-Trust Services, Division of Natural Resources in Nashville, Tennessee.

Duties
Determine grazing capacity according to type of livestock, soil and forage conditions, and other factors.
Determine range suitability or conditions, forage supplies and production, proper season of use and best classes of livestock.
Investigate and provides reports on land usage, trespass, and violations and prepare recommendations for corrective action.
Uses and prepares various maps using Google Earth Pro, ArcGIS, and GPS equipment.
Advise contracted tribal programs of grant funding opportunities.
Prepares agricultural plans utilizing land capability charts, land classification maps and combine various practices need to conserve, protect, and utilize the soil, water, and vegetation on individual units.

Qualifications
EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS: (OPM Operating Manual, Qualification Standards for Professional and Scientific Positions, and Individual Occupational Requirements for GS-0401: General Biological Science Series).
BASIC REQUIREMENTS FOR ALL GS-0401 GRADES:
Degree: biological sciences, agriculture, natural resource management, chemistry, or related disciplines appropriate for the position.

Combination of education and experience-Courses equivalent to a major, as shown in A above, plus appropriate experience or additional education.
ADDITIONAL EXPERIENCE REQUIRED: In addition to meeting the basic entry level qualification requirements, applicants must have the following:
SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: GS-9: I have at least 1 year of full-time specialized experience or the equivalent, comparable to at least the GS-07 in the Federal Service (obtained in either the public or private sector). This experience may include work involving administrative or managerial duties in natural resources, such as controlling, preserving, and/or evaluating a natural resource or natural resource function, such as conservation, forest, rangeland, fisheries, and wildlife; and interpreting and applying biological science and research or closely related activities; develops environmental reports and impact statements; perform field inspections for lease compliance, community improvement plans, environmental issues, trespass, right-of-way issuance or renewal and various other surface assessment activities; OR 2 years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to a master's degree or master's or equivalent graduate degree (36 semester hours, 54 quarter hours or equivalent), if related to this position.
SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE GS-11: I have at least 1 year of full-time specialized experience or the equivalent, comparable to at least the GS-09 in the Federal Service (obtained in either the public or private sector). This experience includes involving compliance with statutes dealing with protection of the environment and prudent management of trust resources (National Environmental Policy Act, Clean Air Act, Comprehensive Environmental Response, Compensation and Liability Act); developing and implementing conservation plans; preparation of technical documentation for environmental laws and regulations, as those relate to historic preservation, threatened and endangered species, water quality, air quality, emerging environmental consideration such as energy efficiency and renewable energy; work involving preparing and advising on natural resources regulations and guidance; developing environmental reports and impact statements; developing and implementing lands use plans; identifying problems associated with public and private land use; coordinates the surveying, monitoring, analyzing, and evaluating of natural resources to permit multiple land uses while preserving the area's ecological viability; OR 3 years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to a Ph.D. degree OR Ph.D. OR equivalent doctoral degree.
GRADUATE EDUCATION: One year of full-time graduate education is considered to be the number of credit hours that the school attended has determined to represent 1 year of full-time study. If that number cannot be obtained from the school, 18 semester hours should be considered an academic year of graduate study. Part-time graduate education is creditable in accordance with its relationship to a year of full-time study at the school attended.
