This position is located in the Department of Homeland Security (DHS), U.S. Coast Guard (USCG), Deputy Commandant for Operations, Assistant Commandant for Prevention Policy, Office of Investigations & Casualty Analysis, Washington, DC.
Duties
This position serves as a Post-Investigation Product Specialist, responsible for the processing, reviewing, routing, and posting of post-casualty investigation products for the Coast Guard to include Safety Recommendations, Findings of Concern, Safety Alerts, Marine Safety Information Bulletins (MSIB) and any future post-casualty products developed. This also includes Safety Recommendations issued by the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) to the Coast Guard. Being a Coast Guard civilian makes you a valuable member of the Coast Guard team. Typical work assignments include:
Requirements
- Males born after 12/31/1959 must be registered for Selective Service.
- U.S. Citizenship is required.
- Time-in-grade requirement must be met by closing date.
- A one-year probationary period may be required.
- State Driver's License required.
Qualifications
To qualify for the GS-13: Applicants must possess one year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lowest grade level (GS-12 level) in the federal service. Specialized experience is experience that has equipped you with the particular ability, skill, and knowledge to successfully perform the duties of this position and is typically in or related to this line of work.
Resume must demonstrate that you meet the specialized experience below:
Delivering briefings; AND
Assisting with policy development in marine safety; AND
Developing accident investigation content or products on for the purpose of dissemination to appropriate audience.
NOTE: There is no educational substitution at this grade level.
