You will serve as a Transportation Assistant (Freight) in the Aviation Logistics Department, Transportation Division of NAVSUP FLT LOGISTICS CNTR PUGET SOUND.
Duties
You will be responsible for the transportation management duties consisting of making necessary arrangements for the movement of materials by all modes, as well as using commercial carriers and charted carriers.
You will coordinate the movement of over-dimensional freight with proper state and local authorities so freight can travel over public highways.
You will file all required documents and are responsible for the safe handling of these controlled documents.
You will compute shipment cost and certify detention, redelivery, permit, and long-haul charges to ensure charges are valid and in accordance with carrier rates.
You will approve shipments and prepare monthly billings statements for signature.

Qualifications
Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the (GS-06) grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: applying a knowledge of transportation regulations and laws that relate to the movement of a wide range of material and use of commercial carriers or commercial services to provide shipment of hazardous, classified freight, Advanced Tracability and Control (ATAC) aviation retrograde, and Ammunition armaments and explosives (AA&E) by all modes of transportation. Examples of specialized experience may demonstrate the following: 1) Utilizing Microsoft and Automated data systems such as (Syncada, ERP, JDRS, etc) to properly schedule shipments, process claims, complete bills, and coordinate with Federal and state agencies regarding road clearances and routing of oversized cargo; 2) Reviewing and reconciling billing statements, while resolving carrier issues; 3) Determining appropriate personnel to be notified of incoming and outgoing shipments, in addition to properly scheduling vehicle inspections; and 4) Adapting regulations and responding to specific situations to resolve a wide range of discrepancies.
