Duties

As a Mission Support Specialist, at the full performance level, you will perform the following duties: Coordinate and perform a wide variety of administrative and management services essential to the operations of the office including, but not limited to, managing travel needs and related processing, serving as timekeeper for staff, and coordinating a variety of administrative projects; Advise management on assigned administrative matters; Conduct or participate in the evaluation of administrative programs, systems and methods and identify ways to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of these services at the local level; Represent the office in dealings with vendors and organizations within the agency that have primary responsibility for these services; and Apply a wide range of administrative programs, concepts, laws, policies, practices, and analytical diagnostic methods and techniques to address substantive matters that contain several interrelated issues.

Qualifications with Education: You qualify for the GS-09 grade level if you possess one of the following: Experience: One (1) year of specialized experience at the GS-07 grade level or equivalent performing duties such as: Independently plans and carries out the assignments in conformance with accepted policies and practices; Exercises judgement in choosing, interpreting, applying, and modifying available guidelines for adaptation to specific problems or issues; Utilizes knowledge of the basic concepts, principles, regulations, and policies related to logistics and procurement management to plan, organize, evaluate, and improve logistics and procurement services and processes; Identifies a variety of issues and their factual relationships, analyzes relevant factors and conditions, and chooses a course of action from many alternatives; AND Sound ability to communicate both orally and in writing used to question, explain, and discuss requirements, work situations, and procedural requirements to various managers and employees. OR Education: have a master's degree (or equivalent graduate degree such as a L.L.B./J.D.) or two (2) academic years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to such a degree. OR Combination of Education and Experience: have a combination of successfully completed graduate level education and experience. Graduate level education in excess of the amount required for the next lower grade level, which is 1 year, may be used to qualify at the GS-09. This will be calculated using your resume and unofficial transcripts or a list of courses/course hours submitted with your application. You qualify for the GS-11 grade level if you possess one of the following: Experience: One (1) year of specialized experience at the GS-09 grade level or equivalent performing duties such as: Coordinating and monitoring a variety of administrative projects (i.e., budget, personnel, travel, space, logistics); Identifying and recommending solutions to a wide range of administrative problems; Analyzing administrative data from a variety of sources to develop trends, patterns, profiles, estimates and studies; Preparing preliminary and finished reports and documents; AND Representing the office in dealing with vendors and personnel from other administrative support organizations. OR Education: have a Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree or three (3) academic years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to such a degree; OR Combination of Education and Experience: Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of successfully completed graduate level education and experience. Graduate level education in excess of the amount required for the next lower grade level, which is 2 years, may be used to qualify at the GS-11. This will be calculated using your resume and unofficial transcripts or a list of courses/course hours submitted with your application. Qualifications without Education: You qualify for the GS-12 grade level if you possess one (1) year of specialized experience at the GS-11 grade level or equivalent performing duties such as: Applying and modifying established practices to specific administrative problems which involves many variables; Conducting independent evaluations on administrative functions and preparing study findings, recommendations, and reports; Making agreements and commitments at meetings and during telephone discussions in accordance with previously received instructions; AND Performing liaison functions with other organizations and establishing harmonious working relations with counterparts. Education

GS-07 Occupational series under Administrative and Management Positions Group Standards: A bachelor's degree with Superior Academic Achievement or 1 academic year of graduate education. To qualify under Superior Academic Achievement, you must have completed the requirements for a bachelor's degree with a grade point average of 3.0 or higher on a 4.0 scale, class standing in the upper third of a graduating class or major subdivision, or membership in a national scholastic honor society.

GS-09: A master's (or equivalent graduate degree such as a L.L.B/J.D.) or 2 academic years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to such a degree.

GS-11: A Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree or 3 full years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to such a degree.
