This position is located at Bureau of Engraving and Printing, within the RESEARCH ANALYSIS DIVISION. As a Physical Scientist (Project and Technology Analyst), you will serves as a Project and Technology Analyst (General Physical Scientist) in the Research Analysis Division (RAD) and provide testing support for the Security Features, and Materials Applications Divisions.

Duties

The following are the duties of this position at the GS-13. If you are selected at a lower grade level, you will have the opportunity to learn to perform all these duties and will receive training to help you grow in this position. Devise methodology and uses complex analytical instrumentation to acquire data and perform calculations to analyze and evaluate data. Work with Division Manager, Senior Technology Analyst, Project Managers, external stakeholders, and team members from different areas of expertise to determine appropriate work and test procedures for materials such as currency new design, inks, papers, and special materials. Plan and perform investigations to develop new methods and means of validating findings. Serve as a Co-leader in the division to ensure that the proper analyses are selected and performed, develop long and near-term test plans, and train personnel in the division's analysis tools.

Qualifications

You must meet the following requirements by the closing date of this announcement. For the GS-13, you must have one year of specialized experience at a level of difficulty and responsibility equivalent to the GS-12 grade level in the Federal service. Specialized Experience for this position includes: - Experience working in traditional and matrix teams in pursuit of program and project objectives. AND - Experience in working in projects related to technologies developed from concept to integration in a stage-gate process. AND - Experience in following comprehensive test plans, and subsequent analysis and interpretation of results. AND - Experience evaluating, and presenting information in a concise, articulate, persuasive, and knowledgeable fashion in both written and oral form, to technical and non-technical audiences. For the GS-13, you must have one year of specialized experience at a level of difficulty and responsibility equivalent to the GS-12 grade level in the Federal service. Specialized Experience for this position includes: - Experience working in traditional and matrix teams in pursuit of program and project objectives. AND - Experience in working in projects related to technologies developed from concept to integration in a stage-gate process. AND - Experience in following comprehensive test plans, and subsequent analysis and interpretation of results. In addition to the above requirements, you must meet the following time-in-grade requirement, if applicable: For the GS-13, you must have been at the GS-12level for 52 weeks. For the GS-12, you must have been at the GS-11 level for 52 weeks.

Education

Individual Occupational Requirements for General Physical Science Series, 1301

A. Degree: physical science, engineering, or mathematics that included 24 semester hours in physical science and/or related engineering science such as mechanics, dynamics, properties of materials, and electronics.

OR
B. Combination of education and experience -- education equivalent to one of the majors shown in A above that included at least 24 semester hours in physical science and/or related engineering science, plus appropriate experience or additional education.


The education generally must be from an accredited (or pre-accredited) college or university recognized by the U.S. Department of Education. If you are qualifying based on foreign education, you must submit proof of creditability of education as evaluated by a credentialing agency. Refer to the OPM instructions.
