The primary purpose of this position is: To serve as the Director of Staff for the Wing Commander and Vice Commander, exercising management authority over the Wing's Command Staff operations and assist leadership in maintaining the forward direction of the organization mission.
Duties
Plans, organizes and oversees the Staff activities of the 375th Air Mobility Wing, ensuring that the functions and activities within the Wing comply with legal and regulatory requirements and meet Wing needs.
Exercises supervisory personnel management responsibilities.
Represents the 375 AMW with a variety of installation and functional area organizations.
Establishes, defines, and implements requirements for staff programs to ensure services and functions are in line with organizational goals and mission requirements.
Provides executive leadership and management.

- The employee is expected to exercise a high degree of creativity and innovation in applying sound, mature judgment to develop effective solutions to a wide range of technical and resource management issues.
- The employee must have the ability and professional stature to support and defend, as well as influence, program and policy decisions throughout the Wing and higher headquarters.
- Employee frequently participates in briefings and conferences, a marked degree of oral and written communications skills are essential.
- Recall to duty and overtime may be a requirement of this position.
- Appropriately handles and safeguards sensitive and/or classified information in accordance with regulations to reduce potential compromise.
- This is a Centrally Managed Position. PCS expenses if authorized will be paid IAW JTR and Air Force Regulations
- This is a Supervisory Position. A 1-year supervisory probationary period is required if applicant selected has not previously met this requirement.

In order to qualify, you must meet the specialized experience requirements described in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standards for General Schedule Positions, Administrative and Management Positions, 0301.
SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Applicants must have at least one (1) year of specialized experience at the next lower grade GS-13, or equivalent in other pay systems. Examples of specialized experience includes in-depth knowledge of management planning policies, practices, regulations, and laws associated with the organization's structure, mission, functionality, capabilities, and limitations related to key staff level functions. Leadership and technical skills to identify development goals and objectives, develop comprehensive project plans and when necessary, and direct ad hoc teams. In-depth knowledge of personnel management, EEO, and safety and security regulations, practices, and procedures.
FEDERAL TIME-IN-GRADE (TIG) REQUIREMENT FOR GENERAL SCHEDULE (GS) POSITIONS: Merit promotion applicants must meet applicable time-in-grade requirements to be considered eligible. One year at the GS-13 level is required to meet the time-in-grade requirements for the GS-14 level. TIG applies if you are in a current GS position or held a GS position within the previous 52 weeks. NOTE: Applicants applying as VEOA candidates who are current GS civil service employees or are prior GS civil service employees within the past 52 weeks must also meet time-in-grade requirements.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (KSAs): Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the following areas:
In-depth knowledge of management planning policies, practices, regulations, and laws associated with the organization's structure, mission, functionality, capabilities, and limitations related to key staff level functions.
Leadership and technical skills to identify development goals and objectives, develop comprehensive project plans and direct ad hoc teams.
Skill to analyze, plan, and adjust work operations of one or more organizational segments to meet program requirements and objectives within available resources; including skill to recognize and clearly define program deficiencies that may be eliminated through improvements or risk mitigation.
Skill to communicate both orally and in writing, clearly, concisely, and with technical accuracy and persuasively interact with other senior management and scientific personnel to negotiate major issues of importance.
In-depth knowledge of personnel management, EEO, and safety and security regulations, practices, and procedures.
Skill to plan, organize, and direct the functions and mentor, motivate, and appraise the staff of an organization through subordinate supervisors.
PART-TIME OR UNPAID EXPERIENCE: Credit will be given for appropriate unpaid and or part-time work. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week.
VOLUNTEER WORK EXPERIENCE: Refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service Programs (i.e., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student and social).
