At the Financial Crimes Enforcement Network (FinCEN), we are at the forefront in preventing and detecting terrorist financing, money laundering, and other financial crime. Serve at the nation's financial intelligence unit and protect the United States financial system from criminals and terrorist financiers.

Duties

As an Supervisory Information Technology Specialist, you will: Plan and oversee infrastructure operations & hosting functions. Develop strategic plans for obtaining the IT functionality to support FinCEN's mission oriented and regular operational needs. Participate in the capital planning and investment control process and in support of FinCEN's Technology Review Board. Provide input into budget development. Oversee the conduct of cost-benefit analyses. Participate in ensuring the implementation of security requirements. Interface regularly with senior management officials within FinCEN and in other areas of the Treasury Department, concerning important policy and programmatic issues.

Qualifications

You must meet the following requirements by the closing date of this announcement. Specialized experience for the GS-15: You must have one year of specialized experience at a level of difficulty and responsibility equivalent to the GS-14 level in the Federal service. Specialized experience for this position is defined as: - Experience operating and maintaining an IT production environment, which includes configuration and/or operations of hardware, networks, and computing platforms in cloud, on-premise, and hybrid environments; AND - Experience in IT functional responsibilities, such as: formulating or updating policies, budget formulation, and assessing programmatic options; AND - Experience identifying cyber-security issues, trends, and/ or weaknesses that halt the delivery and accessibility of analysis of highly sensitive data in a FISMA High, or similar, environment ; AND - Experience evaluating, selecting, and implementing contracting services and products (e.g. cost-effectiveness, technical capability, and agency objectives); AND - Experience providing supervision or leadership to staff or teams involved in highly technical IT functions in the areas of infrastructure and hosting. Examples: developing operational policies and plans; establishing priorities, developing performance standards and/or evaluating performance; eliminating work bottlenecks; participating in the resolution of serious complaints; and/or promoting team building. In addition to specialized experience, individuals must have IT-related experience demonstrating each of the four competencies listed below. Attention to Detail - Is thorough when performing work and conscientious about attending to detail. Customer Service - Works with clients and customers (that is, any individuals who use or receive the services or products that your work unit produces, including the general public, individuals who work in the agency, other agencies, or organizations outside the Government) to assess their needs, provide information or assistance, resolve their problems, or satisfy their expectations; knows about available products and services; is committed to providing quality products and services. Oral Communication - Expresses information (for example, ideas or facts) to individuals or groups effectively, taking into account the audience and nature of the information (for example, technical, sensitive, controversial); makes clear and convincing oral presentations; listens to others, attends to nonverbal cues, and responds appropriately. Problem Solving - Identifies problems; determines accuracy and relevance of information; uses sound judgment to generate and evaluate alternatives, and to make recommendations. The experience may have been gained in either the public, private sector or volunteer service. One year of experience refers to full-time work; part-time work is considered on a prorated basis.
