This position serves as the Supervisory Technician (Medical) for the Medical Supply Distribution area within the VA Health Care System, located in Martinez,California. As a Supervisory Supply Technician , the incumbent will ensure that supplies and materials are distributed to all service areas by directing, supervising, and managing inventory that is received, stored, and issued for administrative and clinical areas.

***THIS IS NOT A VIRTUAL POSITION, YOU MUST LIVE WITHIN OR BE WILLING TO RELOCATE WITHIN A COMMUTABLE DISTANCE OF THE DUTY LOCATION*** The major duties include but are not limited to: Plans work to be accomplished by subordinates. Provides guidance and evaluates work involving new, complex, or unusual situations. Finds and implements ways to implement or reduce significant bottlenecks and barriers to production. Oversees the receipt of medical supplies into the medical center. Ensures supplies are unpacked and properly stored in inventory areas. Analyzes and resolves difficult issues and problems. Ensures availability of reoccurring supply items. Oversees management and distribution of all supplies and material in the medical center through subordinates who maintain stock, monitor expiration dates and rotating stock, ensure critical supplies are monitored, perform daily inventory, resolve differences in records, distribute items, deliver supplies in a timely manner and complete specialty cart preparation. Performs all other duties as assigned. Work Schedule: Monday through Friday, 8:00 am - 4:30 pm. Recruitment & Relocation Incentives: Not authorized. Critical Skills Incentive (CSI): Not Approved. Driver's License Requirement (Screen-out): This position requires driving a government vehicle to perform the official duties of the position; therefore, a current and valid state driver's license is required. Note: We cannot accept photographs, therefore; please do not submit a copy of your driver's license with your application package. If an interview is requested, you may be required to provide a copy of your current and valid state-issued driver's license. To qualify for this position at the GS-7 level, you must meet the following: Experience: You must have at least one (1) full year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade level (GS-6) in the Federal Service that has given you the particular knowledge, skills and abilities required to successfully perform the duties of a Supervisory Supply Technician - Medical, and that is typically in or related to the position to be filled. Specialized experience includes: planning and coordinating work to be accomplished by other staff; oversee the receipt and distribution of supplies and materials; maintaining stock at inventory locations; monitoring expiration dates; ensuring supplies are delivered in a timely manner; answering questions on processes and procedures; resolving problems and providing guidance; making recommendations on improvement of wok production and quality of work. NOTE: Applicants wishing to receive credit for such experience must clearly indicate the nature of their duties and responsibilities in each position and the number of hours a week spent in such employment. Physical Requirements: The work requires standing and walking during the entire workday and frequent reaching, bending and lifting of supply packages (occasionally weighing as much as 50 pounds). Work requires pushing loaded carts of medical supplies (weighing in excess of 100+pounds). With proper assistance, moves heavier items weighing over 40 pounds. All experience listed on your resume must include the month and year start/end dates. Part-time experience will be credited on the basis of time actually spent in appropriate activities.
