The primary purpose of the position is to ensure that supplies and material are distributed to all areas serviced by Supply Chain Service.
Duties
Major Duties:
Plans work to be accomplished by subordinates, sets and adjusts short term priorities, and prepares schedules for completion of work.
Assigns work to subordinates based on priorities, selective consideration of the difficulty and requirements of assignments, and the capabilities of employees.
Develops and executes staff training.
Evaluates work performance of subordinates.
Gives advice, counsel, or instruction to employees on both work and administrative matters.
Hears and resolves complaints from employees, group grievances and serious complaints.
Initiates minor disciplinary actions. Identifies and develops training needs of employees.
Finds ways to improve production or increase the quality of the work directed.
Assures reasonable equity of performance standards and rating techniques.
Provides direction of a major program segment with significant resources.
Serves as the rating official on evaluations.
Recommends awards or bonuses for personnel and changes in position classification, subject to approval by service chief.
Finds and implements ways to eliminate or reduce significant bottlenecks and barriers to production.
Promotes team building and improves practices.
Makes or approves selections for subordinate nonsupervisory positions.
Determines whether contractor performed work meets standards of adequacy necessary for authorization of payment.
Approves expenses comparable to within-grade increases, overtime, and employee travel.

Qualifications
To qualify for this position, applicants must meet all requirements by the closing date of this announcement, 01/08/2024.
Time-In-Grade Requirement: Applicants who are current Federal employees and have held a GS grade any time in the past 52 weeks must also meet time-in-grade requirements by the closing date of this announcement. For a GS-7 position you must have served 52 weeks at the GS-6. The grade may have been in any occupation, but must have been held in the Federal service. An SF-50 that shows your time-in-grade eligibility must be submitted with your application materials. If the most recent SF-50 has an effective date within the past year, it may not clearly demonstrate you possess one-year time-in-grade, as required by the announcement. In this instance, you must provide an additional SF-50 that clearly demonstrates one-year time-in-grade. Note: Time-In-Grade requirements also apply to former Federal employees applying for reinstatement as well as current employees applying for Veterans Employment Opportunities Act of 1998 (VEOA) appointment.
You may qualify based on your experience and/or education as described below:
Specialized Experience: You must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade GS-06 in the normal line of progression for the occupation in the organization. Examples of specialized experience would typically include, but are not limited to: planning and coordinating work to be accomplished by other staff; establishing priorities for a department; overseeing the receipt and distribution of supplies and materials for a complex medical center; maintaining stock at inventory locations; monitors expiration dates; ensure supplies are delivered timely; training new employees and answering questions on local processes and procedures; ensuring proper storage of supplies and materials; resolving problems and providing guidance to others on logistics activities; and making recommendations on improvement of wok production and quality of work. Physical Requirements: Work is normally accomplished within a supply office and supply distribution points with the majority of time utilizing the automated inventory system for inventory management, processing orders, distributing supplies, conducting physical inventories in t he warehouse and various supply points. Responsible for the storage and distribution of supplies to both primary and secondary inventory points, as well as within the bulk supply areas. This may include movement of stock to assist in counting, storing, rotating, and retrieving items from shelves and cabinets. Physical exertions and demands include standing, walking, bending, stretching, reaching, and pushing/pulling supply carts and lifting supplies up to 50 pounds are required.
