THIS IS A NATIONAL GUARD TITLE 32 EXCEPTED SERVICE POSITION. This National Guard position is for a GENERAL SUPPLY SPECIALIST (TITLE 32), Position Description Number D2781000 and is part of the NC ANG, National Guard (ANG 145 LRG SQ / Position No. 1034085). ******Primary purpose of this position is to perform developmental assignments GS-7/9*****

Duties

As a GENERAL SUPPLY TECHNICIAN, GS-2005-07, you will perform developmental assignments. Performs developmental assignments of moderate difficulty where work procedures are established, and a number of specific guidelines exist. Work assignments consisting of a series of specific and related tasks have been selected to orient the employee in the practical application of basic Supply principles, concepts, and techniques. Assignments are combined with training to further develop analytical skills and techniques as a General Supply Specialist. Assistance in solving problems is available from the supervisor or a higher-graded specialist. Perform recurring assignments. Independently performs recurring assignments of limited, but gradually increasing, difficulty and complexity. The employee is responsible for locating and selecting the most appropriate guidelines and procedures for application and making minor deviations to adapt the guidelines to specific cases. Analyzes routine problems that are encountered and resolves them. Refers deviations, problems, and unfamiliar situations to the supervisor for assistance. Participate in special initiatives, studies, and projects. Works with other specialists in planning and conducting special initiatives, studies, and projects. Assists in preparing reports and briefings out lining study findings and recommendations. Prepares written correspondence and other documentation. Drafts or prepares a variety of documents to include newsletter items, responses to routine inquiries, reports, letters, and other related documents. Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • NATIONAL GUARD MEMBERSHIP IS REQUIRED. If you are not sure you are eligible for military membership, please contact a National Guard recruiter prior to applying for this position.
  • This is an excepted service position that requires membership in a compatible military assignment in the employing state's National Guard, required prior to the effective date of placement.
  • Selectee will be required to wear the military uniform.
  • Acceptance of an excepted service position constitutes concurrence with these requirements as a condition of employment.
  • Applicants who are not currently a member of the National Guard must be eligible for immediate membership and employment in the National Guard in the military grade listed in this announcement.
  • Males born after 31 December 1959 must be registered for Selective Service.
  • Federal employment suitability as determined by a background investigation.
  • May be required to successfully complete a probationary period.
  • Participation in direct deposit is mandatory.

Qualifications

Military Grades: Enlisted (AIC/E3 to SSgt/E5) Minimum Requirements: Experience, education or training involving administration of supply management, storage, cataloging, packaging and distribution or other work which provided the applicant with a general knowledge of one or more aspects of the supply field. Experience using computer and automation systems. Specialized Experience: Must have at least 12 months experience, education, or training in researching documents or other resources to coordinate inventory requirements. Knowledge of stock levels, inventory, shipping, receiving, requisitioning and requirements of supplies and equipment. Experience involving the control of supply stocks and accounting for equipment. Knowledge of supply management, cataloging, maintenance and disposal procedures. Experience which required person-to-person contacts to convey information and ability to compile reports, letters, memoranda, etc.
