About the Position: This position is located within the Human Resources Command, Personnel Information Systems Directorate PERSINSD, Fort Knox, KY.
Duties
Develop, reviews, Approves, and implements software configuration management procedures, including procedures for configuration control for software development and operational systems.
Review and ensures that submitted risk analysis, accreditation, and certification packages are in accordance with agency requirements and time frames.
Manage the risk management, security and contingency planning programs.
Serve periodically as the Contracting Officers Technical Representative and prepare or oversee preparation of technical Statements of work and monitor the progress of the contract.
Performs staff functions in a command headquarters, component staff or equivalent major policy-making organization involved in systems life cycle functions; serve as the functional expert in assigned functional areas.
Requirements

- This position requires a Secret Security Clearance.
- This position has a TDY requirement of 25%.
- Must complete training and obtain the required certification/recertification for position as outlined in DoD Publication 8570.01-M, Information Assurance Workforce Improvement Program, dated 19 Dec 2005 (Incorporating Change 1, 15 May 2008).

Requirement for Information Technology Specialist (Security):
One year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-12 grade level in the Federal service which includes reviewing threats and vulnerabilities to Information Systems and Network security and taking corrective action as required. Possess experience developing alternative approaches and implementing appropriate countermeasures required to protect information systems assets from damage, destruction, alteration or misappropriation. Experience developing and maintaining sensitive (unclassified) and classified personnel information systems provided for the appropriate administrative, physical and technical safeguards as required by the appropriate regulations, federal statutes and the Privacy Act. Experience in compiling and maintaining information systems facility security profiles, operations security and standard operating procedures in accordance with appropriate regulations.
The specialized experience includes, or was supplemented by, information technology related experience (paid or unpaid experience and/or completion of specific, intensive training, as appropriate) which demonstrates each of the four competencies, as defined:
(1) Attention to Detail: Is thorough when performing work and conscientious about attending to detail. Examples of IT-related experience demonstrating this competency include: completing thorough and accurate work independently, even in the most difficult or stressful situations; occasionally reviewing work completed by others;
(2) Customer Service: Works with clients and customers (that is, any individuals who use or receive the services or products that your work unit produces, including the general public, individuals who work in the agency, other agencies, or organizations outside the Government) to assess their needs, provide information or assistance, resolve their problems, or satisfy their expectations; knows about available products and services; is committed to providing quality products and services. (3) Oral Communication: Expresses information (for example, ideas or facts) to individuals or groups effectively, taking into account the audience and nature of the information (for example, technical, sensitive, controversial); makes clear and convincing oral presentations; listens to others, attends to nonverbal cues, and responds appropriately. Examples of IT-related experience demonstrating this competency include: convincingly conveying complex information to customers; presenting thoughts that are well-organized and demonstrating confidence in the facts and ideas; adjusting style when working with individuals with different levels of understanding; using various methods to explain and convey information; and
(4) Problem Solving: Identifies problems; determines accuracy and relevance of information; uses sound judgment to generate and evaluate alternatives, and to make recommendations. Examples of IT-related experience demonstrating this competency include: solving complex or sensitive problems by developing and proposing strategic alternatives; identifying possible conflicts and shared benefits; helping team anticipate problems and identifying and evaluating potential sources of information; providing feedback and coaching to others to help solve problems; engaging appropriate stakeholders when developing solutions in order to understand and incorporate multiple perspectives and needs; evaluating the effectiveness of decisions and adjusting future decisions as appropriate.
