This position is part of the National Archives and Records Administration, Museum Programs Division (LO) and located in downtown Washington, DC. The incumbent is a visitor services staff member who often acts in an independent role and is responsible for providing on-site visitors with information and answers to questions using an in-depth knowledge of Museum resources and history of the National Archives.

The following are the duties of this position at the GS-06. If you are selected at a lower grade level, you will have the opportunity to learn to perform all these duties, and will receive training to help you grow in this position.

Qualifications
You must meet the following requirements by the closing date of this announcement.
Specialized Experience: For the GS-06, you must have one year of specialized experience at a level of difficulty and responsibility equivalent to the GS-05 grade level in the Federal service. Specialized Experience for this position includes:
Greeting visitors or customers in a professional setting, such as; an office, information desk, admissions desk, theater, or lobby
AND
Using Point of Sale (POS) systems to process transactions for visitors or customers (examples; cash register, kiosk, card reader)
Specialized Experience: For the GS-05, you must have one year of specialized experience at a level of difficulty and responsibility equivalent to the GS-04 grade level in the Federal service. Specialized Experience for this position includes performing in a technical, clerical, or support role for a business or organization.
Examples of such experience could include: utilizing Point of Sale (POS) systems to process transactions for visitors or customers, or greeting clients and responding to inquiries in person, via email, or on the telephone, or utilizing computer systems and tools to prepare and update documents and reports.
OR
You may substitute education for specialized experience as follows: 4 years above high school
OR
You may qualify by a combination of experience and education
NOTE: Only education in excess of the first 60 semester hours (i.e., beyond the second year) is creditable toward meeting the specialized experience requirement. One full academic year of study (30 semester hours) beyond the second year is equivalent to 6 months of specialized experience.
