The mission of the DFELHWC is to administer the Federal Employees' Compensation Act (FECA, 5 U.S.C. § 8101. seq.) and related regulation and procedure by developing and adjudicating new claims for benefits, managing ongoing claims, authorizing and paying medical and monetary compensation benefits to injured workers and survivors, and helping injured workers return to work when they are able to do so.
This position is inside the bargaining unit.

For the GS-0303-7:
Requirements
- Must be a U.S. Citizen.
- Must be at least 16 years old.
- Requires a probationary period if the requirement has not been met.
- Candidate required to obtain the necessary security/investigation level.
- Must provide active Health Information Management and/or active Medical Coding certification.
Qualifications

You must meet the Basic Requirements listed in the "Specialized Experience" to qualify for the Medical Coding Assistant position, as described below.
For GS-07 : Applicants must have 52 weeks of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade level GS-06 in the Federal Service.
Specialized Experience is the experience that equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities (KSA's) to perform the duties of the position successfully, and that is typically in or related to the position to be filled. To be creditable, specialized experience must have been equivalent to at least the next lower grade level.
Qualifying specialized experience for this GS-07 position includes:
Reviewing or working with health care billing and/or medical codes.
Reviewing or working with medical coding systems.
Responding to oral and written inquiries regarding medical or billing issues.
Education
