This position is located with Bonneville Power Administration, in Transmission (EHT), Historic Preservation, Cultural Resource Compliance (EH) organization, Environmental Planning and Analysis (EC), Environment, Fish and Wildlife (E). A successful candidate in the Historian position will serve as a Senior Historian to ensure that historic built environment resources are given full consideration in assigned projects for all Bonneville Power Administration (BPA) undertakings.

As a Historian, you will:

  • Must be a U.S. Citizen or National.

  • May be required to successfully complete a probationary period.
  • This position does not support remote work. You will be required to report physically to the official reporting worksite as specified by the supervisor, but no less than 3 days per pay period.
  • Selectee will be required to complete the Office of Government Ethics Standard of Confidential Financial Disclosure Report (OFGE450e) within 30 days of employment and annually.
  • Performs the duties of a Contracting Officer Representative (COR) for contracts.

Qualifications

BASIC REQUIREMENT: A. Degree: history; or related field that included at least 18 semester hours in history. or B. Combination of education and experience: courses equivalent to a major in history, or a major in a related field that included at least 18 semester hours in history, as shown in A above, plus appropriate experience or additional education. SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS: A qualified candidate's online application and resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade level GS-12 in the Federal service. Specialized experience for this position is defined as: Experience planning and leading historical research projects or field studies representing a broad range of historic events and timeperiods; Providing consultation or guidance under the National Historic Preservation Act (NHPA); and Assessing building or construction project compliance with historical or cultural laws or regulations or other requirements. "Experience" refers to paid and unpaid experience. Examples of qualifying unpaid experience may include: volunteer work done through National Service programs (such as Peace Corps and AmeriCorps); as well as work for other community-based philanthropic and social organizations. Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills; and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Time-in-Grade: Current Federal employees must meet time-in-grade requirements by the closing date of this announcement to receive consideration. You must meet all qualifications and eligibility requirements by the closing date of this announcement.
