This position is located in the Historic Preservation, Cultural Resource Compliance - Transmission (EHT), Historic Preservation, Cultural Resource Compliance (EH) organization in Environment, Fish and Wildlife (E), Bonneville Power Administration (BPA). A successful candidate in the Historian position will ensure that historic built environment resources are given full consideration in assigned projects for all Bonneville Power Administration (BPA) undertakings.

  • This position does not support remote work. You will be required to report physically to the official reporting worksite as specified by the supervisor, but no less than 3 days per pay period

Qualifications

BASIC REQUIREMENT: A. Degree: history; or related field that included at least 18 semester hours in history. OR B. Combination of education and experience: courses equivalent to a major in history, or a major in a related field that included at least 18 semester hours in history, as shown in A above, plus appropriate experience or additional education. SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS: A qualified candidate's online application and resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade level [GS-11] in the Federal service. Specialized experience for this position is defined as: 1) Experience planning or leading historical research projects or field studies representing a broad range of historic events and time periods; 2) Providing assistance in consultation or guidance under the National Historic Preservation Act (NHPA); AND 3) Assisting in the assessment of building or construction project compliance with historical or cultural laws, regulations or other requirements. "Experience" refers to paid and unpaid experience. Examples of qualifying unpaid experience may include: volunteer work done through National Service programs (such as Peace Corps and AmeriCorps); as well as work for other community-based philanthropic and social organizations. Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills; and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
