The primary purpose of this position is to participate in all aspects of planning, development, execution, instruction, and evaluation for the Joint Terminal Attack Controller qualification & Instructor curses (JTACQC/IC) as well as other syllabi executed at the 6th CTS.

Duties

Participates in development, implementation, monitoring, and evaluation of the 6th Combat Training Squadrons Training Plan. Develops Education and Training Materials and Testing Procedures. Conducts, obtains and evaluates training. Develops, reviews, and revises air-ground integration instructional materials in accordance with established learning objectives

  • Must maintain JTAC currencies IAW JCAS AP MOA Joint Terminal Attack Controller (ITAC) and applicable qualifications and currencies IAW AFI 13-112vl.
  • Work may occasionally require travel away from the normal duty station on military or commercial aircraft.
  • Incumbent may be required to work other than normal duty hours.
  • May be required to operate a government vehicle in the performance of duties.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret Clearance.
  • Previous certification/qualification as Joint Terminal Attack Controller- Instructor, Chief of STAN/EV AL or Chief JTAC-1 preferred...cont.
  • or recent experience in an Air Support Operations Squadron Tactical Operations Center (T-OC) or Air Operations Center (AOC) executing close air support or joint fire support operations.
  • The incumbent must be able to carry equipment up and down terrain to observation positions (OP) in potentially adverse environmental conditions...cont.
  • The incumbent will be required to perform terminal attack control and provide instruction of terminal attack controls from the OP for long periods of time.
  • The incumbent must have the ability to maintain on a continuing basis physical, mental, and medical standards for JTAC and JTAC I duties as specified in AFI 13-112vl

Qualifications

In order to qualify, you must meet the specialized experience requirements described in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standards for General Schedule Positions, Administrative and Management Positions, GS-1712 series. SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Applicants must have at least one (1) year of specialized experience at the next lower grade GS-09, or equivalent in other pay systems. Examples of specialized experience includes Teaching or instructing in an adult education program, secondary school, college, military installation, or industrial establishment in the appropriate field(s); Supervising or administering a training program; Development or review of training/course materials, aids, devices, etc., and evaluation of training results; Work in the occupation or subject-matter field of the position to be filled that required training or instructing others on a regular basis.. OR EDUCATION: Have successfully completed a PhD or equivalent doctoral degree OR 3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree OR LL.M. Education must have a major study in education or a subject area related to the position to be filled. NOTE: You must submit a copy of your transcripts. OR COMBINATION OF EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position. NOTE: You must submit a copy of your transcripts. FEDERAL TIME-IN-GRADE (TIG) REQUIREMENT FOR GENERAL SCHEDULE (GS) POSITIONS: Merit promotion applicants must meet applicable time-in-grade requirements to be considered eligible. One year at the GS-09 level is required to meet the time-in-grade requirements for the GS-11 level. TIG applies if you are in a current GS position or held a GS position within the previous 52 weeks. NOTE: Applicants applying as VEOA candidates who are current GS civil service employees or are prior GS civil service employees within the past 52 weeks must also meet time-in-grade requirements. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (KSAs): Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the following areas: 1. Extensive knowledge of I C4XJ AFSC, US Joint Air/Land doctrine, Tactical Air Control Party and Air Support Operations Center operations. Experience with computer applications (Microsoft Office) for courseware development used in the classroom and student study. 2. Knowledge of organizations objectives, processes involved in military and civilian training, and/or processes relating to training programs in parallel business and industry organization. 3. Knowledge of the methods, principles, practices, and programs related to curriculum development, instructional techniques, and training resources, as well as the principles, techniques, and objectives of test and evaluation. 4. Knowledge of basic budget preparation as it applies to preparing operating and capital expenditure training. 5. Skill in developing course materials and presenting formal and informal courses and briefings. Skill to instruct, facilitate and manage classroom settings. 6. Ability to use electronic equipment in gathering, developing, and analyzing a variety of data and to make recommendations based on assessments. Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing. PART-TIME OR UNPAID EXPERIENCE: Credit will be given for appropriate unpaid and or part-time work. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week. VOLUNTEER WORK EXPERIENCE: Refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service Programs (i.e., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student and social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge and skills that can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
