You will serve as a MAINTENANCE WORKER (CARPENTER / PLUMBER in the FACILITIES MAINTENANCE DEPARTMENT, PRODUCTION MANAGEMENT DEVISION of MCAS CHERRY POINT.

Duties

You will complete carpentry repairs (e.g., windows, frames) on facilities. You will perform spot checks on work (e.g., electrical, plumbing, pipefitting, roofing, carpentry) to verify work sequence, quality, procedures, and quantity of output are met. You will read and interpret blueprints, drawings, or specifications to plan and complete assigned work. You will follow safety instructions (e.g., practices, procedures, rules, regulations) to Interpret blueprints or plans to determine placement and elevation of piping systems and installation of system components. You will use tools associated with the plumbing trade to replace and repair defective pipes and leaky drains. You will use hand tools, power tools, or stationary shop equipment to perform woodworking or carpentry work. You will perform repair, installation, and maintenance work on systems and equipment in real property trades (e.g., electrical, plumbing, carpentry, structural, locksmith). You will maintain a safe and clean working environment.

  • You will be required to wear personal protective equipment such as helmets, gloves, coveralls, glasses, goggles, respirators and safety shoes continuously for the duration of the work shift.
  • This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
  • This is a Mission Essential position. You will be required to ensure organization or facility continuity of operations and/or completion of tasks that are considered essential to the mission designated by a local or command decision.

This job has a screen-out element which will be used to determine minimum eligibility for this job. Applicants who do not receive a minimum of two points on the screen-out element(s) will be found ineligible. The Screen-out Element for this position is: performing carpentry and plumbing in the minor maintenance and repair to industrial buildings and related facilities and equipment.
