You will serve as a PUBLIC AFFAIRS SPECIALIST in the Naval Health Clinic Patuxent River (NHCPR) of of NMRTC PATUXENT RIVER MD. ***This Job Opportunity Announcement is using an additional online assessment tool to evaluate applicants. Duties

You will serve as the Public Affairs Officer. You will plan, develop, and implement strategic marketing and public affairs program of the Command and its Branch Health Clinic. You will manage and direct the Public Affairs Program and serve as a special assistant to the Command in public affairs matters. You will prepare and distribute Command news releases, feature stories, and social media campaigns. You will manage the Command information program keeping assigned military staff and civilian employees informed about the Navy and significant national and international events, instructions and policy decisions.

  • This position is considered Key/Emergency-Essential. You will be required to provide immediate and continuing support to ensure the success of combat operations or the availability of combat-essential systems.
  • In accordance with BUMEDINST 6220.9B, all personnel, including direct and indirect care providers, administrators, ancillary services, volunteers, students, and others who may come in contact with patients, must receive a seasonal influenza vaccine.
  • The incumbent must, as a condition of employment, be immunized on an annual basis against influenza.

Qualifications

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-09 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: Working with executive level personnel, (e.g., Commanding Officer), to determine which news stories or feature articles are to be covered, the visual materials to be used and the information of benefit to employees and beneficiaries to incorporate in the programs in achieving the objectives relating to public affairs; Developing and applying new approaches to difficult/complex public affairs communication problems; Evaluating the news value or communication potential of visual material including photograph and illustrations; Giving oral presentation and conducting meeting designed to present and obtain input on programs issues and develop a consensus form among divergent viewpoints; AND Applying a variety of analytical techniques in gathering, analyzing, and evaluating complex data and developing appropriate recommendations for command consideration.
