You will serve as a Supervisory Public Affairs Specialist in the Commander Fleet Readiness Center, Command Operation Group of COMFLTREADCEN.

Duties

You will make recommendations to executive leadership including drafting strategic communication plans to address organizational priorities and business process transformation. You will advise leadership on mass communications issues, review of content intended for public release, and planning and execution of all internal and external communications You will prepare written materials for proactive release for external use to attract print, broadcast and social media coverage and for internal use to educate, inform and motivate the workforce. You will oversee the development and rollout of strategic communication plans and social media campaigns.

Requirements

  • You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
  • This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
  • Supervisors in the executive branch have a heightened personal responsibility for advancing government ethics. You will be required to review the 14 General Principles of Ethical Conduct at 5 CFR 2635.101.

Qualifications

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-13 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: 1. Formulating short and long-term program goals and objectives. 2.Planning, drafting and updating contingency plans, operation plans and related documents in support of public affairs requirements. 3. Cultivating positive relations with various local, national, international and trade media, including print, electronic and news media. 4. Developing written guidance and formulating programs that strengthen and maintain strong relationships between the US government, USN, media, government officials and the general public and then put those programs into action using audio-visual and social media communications. 5. Reviewing, developing and enhancing the communication channels and tools necessary to execute communications plans. 6. Preparing speeches and presentations for senior command leaders and advising on delivery.
