This position is located in Southeast Archaeological Center in Tallahassee, FL.
Term Appointment - Time limited not to exceed 4 years

Duties
Serve as field cre lead for archeological monitoring surveys and excavations, including recording the location of sites, recording archeological and environmental data, and writing summary reports.
Maintain field notes, field and excavation descriptions, drawings, maps, photographs, and video recordings related to archeological work.
Perform archeological research.
Use computer software and digital photography. Use related databases, spreadsheets, forms, maps, and files.
Use the Interior Collections Management System (ICMS) to catalog artifact collections.
Understand Southeastern archeology, prehistory, and history sufficient to reliably identify and record cultural remains in the field and in the lab.
Qualifications
In order to qualify for Archeological Technician, GS-0102-07 position, you must possess the following minimum qualifications by close of the announcement:
SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: At least one full year of specialized experience comparable in scope and responsibility to the GS-05 grade level in the Federal service (obtained in either the public or private sectors). Specialized experience is experience that equipped the applicant with the knowledge, skills, and abilities (KSAs) to successfully perform the duties of the position, and that is typically in or related to the position to be filled. Specialized experience includes activities and experience with serving as a team lead for crew leader on projects is preferred, using GPS to guide and record project locations, familiarity with Geographic Information Systems to manage project data, familiarity with databases and spreadsheets for data entry and analysis, and familiarity and experience with geophysical survey equipment and processing data; all of these equipment and systems are now standard operating procedure, when circumstances allow, used to identify potential archeological
OR/
Have successfully completed one full year (18 semester hours) of progressively higher-level graduate education. To be qualifying, graduate study must have been in archeology, anthropology, or other closely related field. You must include transcripts.

Have a combination Education and Experience: Equivalent combinations of education and experience as described above that meets 100% of the requirements for this position. You must include transcripts.

To qualify based on education, you must submit a legible copy of transcripts from an
accredited institution with your name, school name, credit hours, course level, major(s), and grade-point average or class ranking. Transcripts do not need to be official, but if you are selected for this position and you used your education to qualify, you must provide official transcripts before you begin work.

education completed in foreign colleges or universities to meet qualification requirements, you must show that your education credentials have been evaluated by a private organization that specializes in interpretation of foreign education programs and such education has been deemed equivalent to that gained in an accredited U.S. education program; or full credit has been given for the courses at a U.S. accredited college or university.
